And Shulk from Xenoblade, since according to this http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/jap ... -all-time/ the game seems to have a pretty strong (not big) hardcore following in Japan, and Shulk and the monado (and its various abilities) would really fit in the game as a new sword fighter. Also a Bionis/Mechonis inspired stage.....

Both of these would be great especially Chibi-Robo. I'd buy it at launch. An Eggplant Wizard would be fun as well.
As for Mario they should create a Mario 3 character that can change his form into Kuribo's Shoe, Tanooki, etc... with various attacks.
