To unpack this, I use emulation for screenshots for my site and one of the Genesis games that stuck out to me was KoF'98 of course. I don't know if it had a physical release or its someone's homebrew game (maybe only in Japan?) but it works and it's 16-bit.

Reminds me of the homebrew/hack/whatever Fatal Fury Special for the NES -- yes, it exists!

I've got to admit, Neo Geo games do look pretty impressive on the SNES.
