I only dislike the constant shit jokes. When he does more informative and formal reviews he does an amazing job.ninjainspandex wrote:why the hell do people rag on AVGN as a reviewer? he isnt a reviewer its humor mixed with a bit of video game history

I'm inaccurate? Harsh. Way to judge. Maybe I'll write a book one day so you get to know me. Not cool defending them like that. I like to listen to stuff too but I also like to think for myself sometimes and tell things like it is. Where's my buddy kool kit when I need him? Could use him now. Otherwise,friedrice007 wrote:you are the one that is inaccurate, keep your post legit and dont hate on accurate game information providers.arnold_the_bartender wrote:PlayValue is inaccurate (if you care about real history). Don't watch them unless its for entertainment purposes.

*Legit check* I'll just quote him. Sure he won't mind:
"Sega is the tip of the iceberg: they get lots of stuff wrong on Nintendo history too (overlooked all unlicensed publishers other than Wisdom Tree and Tengen for one), and Atari, Coleco, Commodore, and pretty much everything.
The worst is probably Atari: they don't even realize that Atari Inc's properties were sold to 2 separate entities in 1984 and make no distinction between Atari Games and Atari Corp!
It's not so much fanboyism, but simple poor research and emphasis on production value and *style* over any historical accuracy."
But like I said, for one who really cares about accuracy (I mean really cares), then Play Value is not the way to go. Otherwise enjoy them for what they are. It's more flash than fact. If it wasn't, it would turn out to be a boring documentary with little to no entertainment value. People only have so much attention span before they get bored of something. I'll admit, I enjoy watching some of Mark's reviews on CGR and some of the humor he throws in the mix but let's be honest, not all of them are automagically sooper dooper.
Rewind back to my criticism of Play Value and you're basically saying that if I say *randomgame* sucks... it really sucks. I shouldn't have to say it but it's called an opinion.
Been a while since I've gotten anyone to paint a negative picture of me but as Bush once said, "if it feels good, do it." /democrat

Classic Game Room is usually what I spend my time watching. I really enjoy all the shooters and consoles he covers. Plus I found a few current gen hidden gems watching the new ones.

Yeah one of my favorites was the Neo Geo CD version comparisons. Had no idea the second one was way better.arnold_the_bartender wrote:I agree on the console reviews, including the peripherals.fvgazi wrote:Classic Game Room is usually what I spend my time watching. Yeah. Too bad the first one was plagued with that awful load time. More of a reason to stick with the AES/MVS for your Neo Geo fix.fvgazi wrote:Yeah one of my favorites was the Neo Geo CD version comparisons. Had no idea the second one was way better.

If Happy Console Gamer was the "good" foil I saw on YT to the AVGN -- awesome vids
Just didnt get his username.
IrateGamer is much much worse than AVGN, yes.
One of my favorite Classic Game Room videos has to be his Sega Rally review (PS2)
GAME OVER YEAHHHHHHHHHH

My favorite is futurematt5. His reviews crack me up, and are usually about shmups.
