Help with background and whatever art you can contribute would be awesome. Let me know if you have the free time to help and I can PM you more details in the coming days. Different kinds of backgrounds/art I would be looking for help with.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I've got some minor experience in MMF. I also wouldn't be apposed to helping craft backgrounds and other art.
Possibly go with a hybrid modern/retro style? Detailed backgrounds with relatively simple sprites and "platforms". It would also help eliminate any visual confusion with the backgrounds that some games have.
A hybrid modern retro style could work. I'm not very good at making backgrounds so that's something that would really help me out. Do you have any previous work you could show me?
Yeah, 16-bit looking. I'm starting to think about being a bit more lenient about it (doesn't have too look like it's actually playing on Genesis hardware or anything), but you know, just a game that's clearly meant to look, play, and sound retro.Did you say you were aiming at a 16-bit style game? 8-bit music is really easy to do in midi because of the tones you get to use. But with 16-bit you gotta be careful, it still has to sound retro and not "too good" if you know what I mean.
And yeah don't want anything too happy haha, think along the lines of that one song I liked a few posts back (not Forces, the creepy sounding one). So Castlevania/Ninja Gaiden upbeat-ish BGM with a hint of ominous vibes is what I'm thinking.
edit: This song captures part of the feel I want to capture as well. Just a matter of capturing the mood and converting it to old school side scroller BGM.
Thanks for the replies guys, I'm pretty set on making this happen.
