Is it just me, or is Final Fantasy IV on PSP really easy?

How can the PSP version still have the ATB bug? It was fixed in the European GBA release five years ago!

In my experience I didn't really need to exploit FFII at all, the PSP version. It seemed even more balanced and fair (easier I guess you could argue) than the PSX and GBA versions which I couldn't get into. So I'd say if you want to play FFII try the PSP version perhaps.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I'd suggest Dawn of Souls for FF I and II, or the PSP versions. Or give Origins another shot.
Before playing FF II make sure you look up the leveling cheats and glitches. It's the only way to get through the game without going crazy. Seriously.
FF VI is my favorite game of all time and would LOVE to see a remake. Just scared that Square Enix would fuck it up somehow.

Yeah, it sucks. That's Square for you. I was pretty disappointed, but still loved the touch ups regardless.Zing wrote:How can the PSP version still have the ATB bug? It was fixed in the European GBA release five years ago!
He was probably talking about the NES version, which seriously might be impossible. By the way, having played FF 1-6, is 6 still your favorite?Xeogred wrote:In my experience I didn't really need to exploit FFII at all, the PSP version.

Yeah I plan to replay FFVI for the 50th time soon, with FFII-V fresh in my mind since I beat them back to back this year somehow haha... no idea how I pulled that off, but I think I finally got burnt out after finishing up FFIII, I kind of stalled Lufia 2 even though I was really enjoying it.
I have a feeling I might just say FFIV-VI are my top favorites all for different reasons. FFIV being more consistent story/progression wise to me and with some of my favorite music in the franchise, FFV has the best gameplay out of the three hands down to me now (and good challenge) and is probably very replayable with the job system, and FFVI is just awesome stuff with some flaws that I probably only think of since I've played the game so much so I analyze it a bit more lol. After that FFVII is still one of my top favorites easily, also flawed, but for some reason I have no desire to replay FFIX even if I loved it and did and collected -everything-, but FFVIII I've failed to completely replay twice, FFX I don't know if I'll ever touch again, XIII is an easy "never again", XII I like and want to finish someday but it's weird and different... so yeah compared to those, FFVII is still pretty damn good in my book. Love the atmosphere, settings, and Materia system.

While I think that FFVI has the overall best soundtrack, FFV has the single best song. Battle with Gilgamesh is epic.

Heh, that song is legendary but I dunno man... I think The Decisive Battle is probably one of my top favorites now (next to the FFIV regular boss theme). It's just evil as hell and so intense, especially the GBA version:MrPopo wrote:While I think that FFVI has the overall best soundtrack, FFV has the single best song. Battle with Gilgamesh is epic.
I can't stand how the music turned out on FFIV and FFVI on the GBA, maybe different people handled the arrangements but FFV's music was insanely good on the GBA, even better than the SNES version in some cases I'd say. Kind of like when Genesis music sometimes beats out the SNES... I thought the GBA versions extra UMPH was pretty awesome in some cases:

I will say...

I think I do like ExDeath more than Kefka.
And yes I'm serious.
(and probably alone?...)

That's probably just luck. The three SNES FFs used a different instrument set, and it's probably that the FFV instrument set just works really well on the GBA sound chip.Xeogred wrote:I can't stand how the music turned out on FFIV and FFVI on the GBA, maybe different people handled the arrangements but FFV's music was insanely good on the GBA, even better than the SNES version in some cases I'd say.

Guess that's possible, heh. That said I love the crystal clear sound for some of the SNES songs. But yeah, a win-win situation, whereas the GBA versions of FFIV and -especially- FFVI are a lot messier and pretty bad when it comes to the music...MrPopo wrote:That's probably just luck. Haha, I'm not alone. I think I mentioned it when I was going through all the FF's earlier this year, but it was funny to hear it doesn't seem like Kefka is all that popular in Japan, and people just kind of saw him as another ExDeath... to be honest they are quite similar in a lot of ways, just very different ideals on fashion. lolbrunoafh wrote:Hah, of course not. But yes, technically I loved ExDeath's role in FFV from the moment he stepped into the big plot, and unlike Kefka who takes a backseat in the later half of FFVI, ExDeath and your group were constantly on the run and racing each other to get things done to save or destroy the world. It was just great stuff, and ExDeath's ultimate goal is probably the most ridiculous out of all the FF villains.
