It sucks that the only games that interest me are Japanese games on physical media. I have to spend $60 to $70 for a new 3DS game, for example. Wii games are $70 to $80.

I hear people complaining about spending $40 for an American 3DS game. That sounds super cheap to me.

When you buy games from Japan, you buy games from Tojo. Be patriotic!

the only games I buy on release day are games I want the limited edition of or have good pre-order bonuses.

I'm not much of a day-one purchaser. In fact, I'm not much of a year-one purchaser.

Being a couple years behind on games is a great move, economically. I save a bundle (for example, I bought Bioshock 2 brand new for $10 yesterday) and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

With so many games coming out every month, who has the time or the money to stay current, anyway?

This is a quite deep topic but alas yes and no.

On one hand, I think it's to be expected that games drop price so quickly given their nature, quality and lasting appeal.

On the other hand, I agree it's both a symptom and a problem on itself. The most obvious effect is that it forces companies to release games very quickly, with little changes to keep the ball rolling. It's a bad situation of both sides as it promotes games that are but a hook, with no substance behind. Developers lose, consumers lose, everyone loses.

It's a quite good topic to ponder about, thanks.

lol!

I have a job, a mortgage, and a wife, dude. I love and envy Pete Dorr's commitment to gaming as much as anyone, but at the end of the day, I'm not sleeping in my game room.

I'm with the others that stated that the prices start too high to begin with.

29.99 - 49.99 should be plenty for games; with the last one pushing it for big budget popular series titles.
