Did you get an allowance when you were a kid?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

The food? Yeah, I can agree with you on that.

But the arcade rooms were awesome.

I only went there a few times, to be honest. I think the first time was for my friend's birthday party. I do remember having fun playing the arcades. But yeah, the food was less than stellar.

Sports Plus was better. It had a huge arcade floor, laser tag, an ice rink, a small bumper car ride, a food court area, a movie theater type of thing with moving chairs (whatever you call that "ride"), indoor rock climbing, and an upstairs that had a few bowling lanes and pool tables, and I think a bar as well. There might have been a few other things there too. I really wish I would have known that it would be closed now, I would have gone a lot more. Apparently it wasn't profitable enough for the land it was on. Now it's a fitness center. :(

That was the greatest place on Earth from ages 5-11 for me! Co-op Super Mario Bros. Arcade, TMNT Arcade, Golden Axe, Street Fighter II, and tons of other miscellaneous arcades. Plus you got pizza and soda which is the food of the Gods at that age. And when you ran out of tokens and your parents refused to give no more, you still could have a blast in the ball pit and jump room.

I could care less about the animatronic stage-show, though. It was all about the video games for me.

I had an allowance based off of my age...at 6 I got 6 dollars, 7 I got 7 dollars, etc. until I could legally work when I turned 15. I felt like this was a pretty fair system (although I realize I was lucky to get a whole dollar per year, honestly I feel like .25 or .50 would have been fair enough) because it led me to come up with more creative ways to save money and every year I could do more with it.

For some reason everyone else in my extended family would get like 2 dollars no matter what, and that always made me feel really bad about getting such a good deal from my parents. But on the other hand I was the oldest child/ 2nd oldest cousin so I always had the largest amount of chores at home and at family functions.

I would never go into the ball pit since there was a rumor kids pissed in them all the time. Probably just an urban legend.

I had less indoor chores than some of my friends, but my parents have nearly an acre lot that's wooded so lots of weaving around trees with a (self propelled) walk behind mower as well as a lot of edging. No wussy little suburban yard that can be mowed in 15 minutes. I just thought of something else I got money for. As long as I smashed all of the cans, I got the money from turning those in. It would usually be 40+ pounds of cans by the time we'd go so it was a decent amount of money.
