Yes you can. There aren't any video problems, but most boot discs will force NTSC games to play in PAL 50hz. That said, I believe the DC-X bootdisc will allow you to boot games in NTSC 60hz. As long as you have a compatible TV and scart/VGA lead, you should be fine.

...I'm just going to pretend I understand that 50hz/60hz crap and be glad I'm American.

Pish-posh! The Saturn's got so much more than that! :P

It can be argued that, since you seem to be hardcore PAL-only, the Dreamcast would be a much better system for you than the Saturn. It's got many more PAL releases than the Saturn does, and has a ton of PAL-exclusives (Shenmue 2 and Rez to name a couple).

However, if you were willing to import, the Saturn could be a great investment, and you could really dig deep into all that the system has to offer, which is a lot. The Saturn's got a great engine for 2D games, as in 2D platformers, fighters, and 2D shooters, and it's got a ton of great games in each of those libraries. NiGHTS, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, and Radiant Silver Gun are just a few.

However, if you haven't gone deep into gaming (i.e. haven't played much more than Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog) then I think the Dreamcast would be a better choice, as it is definitely more appealing to beginners, at least the way I see it. Eventually though, you should get both, as they're both great systems in their own right :D

Even though I'm a DC guy, I can't help but rage at you for not even mentioning Panzer Dragoon...

Who, me?! :P Haha, sorry. I wasn't really going for a comprehensive list of the must-have's. Just kinda, scratching the surface.

Still, I'd say that those games alone are worth getting the system... if you don't have the DC already, that is.

You should definitely save and get both. I'm biased towards the Dreamcast, so I'd have to say Dreamcast if you're going to pick, but if you can, I definitely recommend getting both.

Honestly Both had some good PAL exclusives. Off the top of my head:

Saturn: Mega man X3, Parodius
DC: Shenmue II, Rez

If you have friends who can come over and play on your couch, Powerstone 1 and 2 alone are worth the price of a Dreamcast, IMO.

Saturn has Panzer Dragoon and Radiant Silvergun, and so many others.

You know what you must do. Get both! 8)

whats the game sega saturn or dreamcast about, and what system is it for? this guide hasent helped me beat it yet.

Is say dreamcast, the saturns pretty neat, but sonic didnt get any really really good games on it, unless your a sonic r fan. I heard its good for shoot em ups. the dreamcast is definentley cheaper-$25 vs. $50

ps: is a sega saturn and 8 games for $50 good, saw one for that much.
