Rayman,Wario Land2,Merlin, Afterburst and the GB version of Donkey Kong is worth a look.

Outside of a few games (Shantae, Survival Kids, Metal Gear) -- how many great GBC exclusives (GBC games that could not be played on a GBclassic) were there?

I played Dragon Warrior III for GBC on a Gamecube Game Boy Player and it was the best 8-bit RPG experience I've ever had. I highly recommend it. You can also get I&II on a cart but those games are more like historical relics than fun games.

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

Apart from the recommendations already mentioned, also try: Revelations: Demon Slayer (a so far cool RPG, but I haven't gotten far in it yet - btw, thanks TEKTORO for the game!), Super Mario Bros Deluxe, The Castlevania Adventure, and Donkey Kong Land.
What'd you like about this? I wasn't a fan, but I only played for about 20 minutes.pakopako wrote:I'm a heavy GBclassic buff, so RPGs like Final Fantasy Legend II is going to be my top recommendation.

Hm. Well, off the top of my head, there's no EXP system for character growth.o.pwuaioc wrote:What'd you like about this? I wasn't a fan, but I only played for about 20 minutes.pakopako wrote:I'm a heavy GBclassic buff, so RPGs like Final Fantasy Legend II is going to be my top recommendation.

Generally, that's a trade-off because... well, I cannot think of a successful RPG game that does this. Adventure games? Yeah. RPGs? Well, there was the debacle that was FF2 (NES) that heavily relied on gaining weapon proficiencies...
That isn't to say there isn't grinding; if you play a party of Humanoids, expect to grind-for-gold to buy additional weapons or gain ability points or get a random spell. But the addition of the Robot class (reliant on rare treasures) alongside Monsters (the ephemeral class) can really speed the game up.
On a personal level, I liked it because it was a huge poshing of the first FFL game. While the plot was more campy (look for Dad) compared to the "fight against death" of the original, the "Chapter" format was kept intact, you had two added save slots, and there was a Clue Memo feature that remembered obscure ramblings of NPCs. Not to mention the translation was more consistent and the dialog more coherent, plus the fact that each Robot or Monster in your party means that much less grinding-for-GP, getting to read the text at my own paced proved highly entertaining.

Which Mega Man game had turned based battles like pokemon for GBA? I recommend that game, I really enjoyed it as a kid and I personally want to pick up another copy of it soon.
Re: Can somebody reccomend some GBC, GB, GBA games to me?
You mean the "Rockman EXE" (Megaman NT) games for the GBA and beyond? Weren't they real-time and not turn-based though?
