Videogames seem to be the number one go to for people that can't take responsibility for being bad parents or for people who have no real good explanation and want some media attention.
What I don't get is why movies and TV don't get more blame, since they are usually more extreme.

Because everyone watches TV and movies, so they don't get to point fingers and act superior if those are the problem. It's the same reason Rock music can't be the scapegoat now that most of the news-consuming public grew up on Rock music. Plus, TV is too close to home for the news media.

I dont think a police killing 1 guy can burn the whole city
police shoot people everyday
Not in the UK they don't. It's very rarely a policeman will be armed with a gun at all.

I believe I have a solution to all of this.

But, in all seriousness, these riots really sound terrifying. Best wishes to all our British Racketeers who are in the midst of this right now.

Obviously all violent acts that occur in the world are due to video games.

WWII would not have happened if Medal of Honor and Call of Duty never came out!
There would be no gangs if GTA never came out!
Humans would not be killing aliens if Doom and Halo didn't exist!

... actually. I think Top Shop probably caused the London Riots.

</sarcasm>

But seriously... I hope the UK Racketeers in the area are safe and have not lost anything. I would not be surprised if Niode was in jail though. Are there any pictures of Sony stores being burned down?

You are right, police dont generally carry guns here and people dont generally own them. There is still no official word on the incident that started all of this, but there is no doubt that its being escalated by the people who are just out to steal stuff. Its pretty crazy that this is happening here, looks more like a scene from a US hurricane evacuation :P

The important thing to remember is that ultimate responsibility for wide spread social unrest lies on the government. This is why we have a government, to prevent this kind of thing from happening.

You have to ask yourself, why do these people feel so poorly about their country that they're willing to tear it down?

For my part, I think if the UK hadn't spent the last 30 years (just like the US) living beyond it's means (borrowing money to give to the rich), only to pass an austerity package (which only hurts the poor), we wouldn't be seeing these riots.

Now I'm not saying that these are protests. These are riots. But riots are a predictable consequence of bad governance. People don't riot when they feel that they have a stake in their country.

You obviously haven't been in a major city when their local sports team won the championship.
