Of course, they caught no end of shit for it because that number is all that matters to most people.

Yeah.. I've been debating over whether or not the numbering system is better or worse. A detailed inspection of every aspect of something provides the reader a more thorough amount of information to gauge the game themselves, but in the end, a single number offers a very concise, if abbreviated, review of something.

Yes, I just gave "FUN" a numerical value. A picture is worth a thousand words, but -- TL;DR -- no one wants to read 1,000 words.

For me it's gotten to the point that i hate reading reviews before i play a game. I've been playing games for years like most here and i do believe i can tell a good game from a crap game.

It ruins the joy of discovering for yourself how the game is by having some reviewers opinion in the back of your head the whole time be it a good or bad one because your views then will be either be better or worse than expected.

I like not knowing what to expect and if it turns out to be a good game the experience of playing it is way better. To name a few good ones i've come across Vampire The Masquerade : Bloodlines , Sacred and Spellforce. Knew nothing about them and now play them a lot or have beaten them more than once.

So i don't counter my own point i won't go into detail of those titles.
