The only thing that was even "bootleg" about them was the 10NES chip. The games Tengen ported were properly licensed by everyone except Nintendo (and arguably ELORG). If it REALLY bothers someone, I guess they could remove that chip and it would be fine. They would have to mod their NES to make it work after that though.BRIK wrote:As far as I see it Nintendo doesn't make any money off NES games anymore. If you did go and buy these bootlegs second-hand, you wouldn't be ripping anyone off would you?

I find the concept of this bothering someone quite silly in the first place anyway.

Exactly. If this is a serious question I have concerns about the life the OP may be leading...lolBRIK wrote:I find the concept of this bothering someone quite silly in the first place anyway.

He just wanted to make sure he wasn't breaking the law. What's wrong about making sure something is legal?deathsled wrote:Exactly. Yep. Wanted to make sure it was legal. Personal decision as a Christian, and I'm quite happy with the life I'm leading.DinnerX wrote:He just wanted to make sure he wasn't breaking the law. Re: Unlicensed NES Games
i just dont get why playing an unlicensed game thats a couple decades old, that no one other than the seller is making any profit off of could be a bad thing. i just see it like this: at this point, who cares? i've had an unlicensed gauntlet cart since i was like 7, and never once thought "wow this looks different, i might 'be in trouble' if i play it"
Oh, come on, don't leave your uncle T-Bag hangin'!

For what it's worth, I don't see any value in a system of morality based solely upon the results of an action.latenitevacancy wrote:i just dont get why playing an unlicensed game thats a couple decades old, that no one other than the seller is making any profit off of could be a bad thing.

Anyway, I know what you mean. I try to keep my gaming habits completely legal, even if some people don't see the point of it.

in most ways, borrowing, lending and reselling is illegal. read the packaging and fine print on most dvds and games. hiring, lending and reselling is prohibited.
