all the IGN64 stuff is still on their site. It's cool to read through sometimes.
I don't bother with the site otherwise.
Am I the only one that finds this article unprofessional?

Then don't be presumptuous and presume that's what the image is intended to convey.alienjesus wrote:that image seems a bit unfair tbh. Whilst their rating for GodHand was awful, it's a bit presumptuous to assume Imagine Party Babiez is a bad game they rated well.
It's just supposed to be humorous, anyway.

..but that's exactly what it was supposed to convey. How could they rate God Hand which is uber awesome so low, and yet they rated a shitty Imagine game so high? Is there something more cerebral we're supposed to pull from that? The very basis upon which that image pulls its humour is to presume that God Hand = good and Party Babies = bad. (..and God Hand ain't that good, which is what makes it an even more bizarre juxtaposition.)brunoafh wrote:Then don't be presumptuous and presume that's what the image is intended to convey.alienjesus wrote:that image seems a bit unfair tbh. Anyway, pick your poison -- you can't spell IGNorant without IGN, blah blah. You don't go to sites like that for professional journalism. It's silly for gaming news sites to even pretend that's what they are. You go there for information provided to you by people that happen to enjoy games, AND enjoy writing about them. It's up to you to filter what you want to know from the extraneous crap that a bunch of juvenile guys insert into their writing and think is funny. If you want super serious unfunny high-brow professionalism, you should be checking out the annoying twats over at The Escapist, or a similar snobbish outfit. There's nothing quite like reading your gaming "journalism" with a healthy dose of "you're not good enough to be reading our articles".
Re: Am I the only one that finds this article unprofessional?
The general rule for critics of all mediums and genres is to find one you often agree with and stick with 'em. IGN is no different and clearly appeals to someone, or they wouldn't exist. I could go on a never ending tirade if I wanted to lambaste every reviewer I disagreed with, but it would be exhausting and pointless. Most "professional" critics mystify me, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

You've got a point but don't forget many people actually take them seriously, I swear Deadly Premonition's sales would have been higher if it wasn't for that 2.5 score from IGN.General_Norris wrote:BUT THE SOCIAL PRESSURE!!!! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO MOVE MY E-PENIS AROUND THEN?????!?!?!
Less IGN, more independent blogs =P
