I have this sitting on my shelf. Need ro play it. Was devil summoner 2 before sakura wars? I know it was a 09 release.

A ton of good rpgs came out in 06-08 as well
wasn't Sakura Wars 2010?
Why yes it was. My mistake

I thought Persona 4 was the swan song... then I thought it was Devil Summoner 2... then I thought it was Sakura Wars: So Long My Love... then a few PSP ports like Jak & Daxter: Lost Frontier and Motorstorm: Arctic Edge came out that suggested there was a little more life in the PS2. The PS2 has been declared dead multiple times in the last 3-4 years, but it certainly hasn't gone down without a fight. I think its era is pretty much over now though. I'd be happy for the PS2 to prove me wrong though.

I must say, it will be hard for either DS2 or Sakura Wars to beat P4 for me. Granted, I have not played them yet, and I would love to be proved wrong. So far though, P4 is so freaking awesome.

I love that I am almost 70 hours into that game and just got a new character... and a girlfriend... and a new tutoring job... plus banging that cougar nurse in the hospitals at night.

I wonder if it will get a PSP port too. I mean so far P1 and 3 have. And 2 was just announced...

haha! I forgot about the naughty nurse. I loved that little side story.

I don't think Sakura Wars or Devil Summoner 2 are quite on par with Persona 4, but few games are. They are both really good in their own right though, and worth playing.

Whoa! When did that thing come out? Looks fantastic! I think I'll go to a store right now and buy one.

... I'll stop being a d-bag now. I just don't take these threads seriously. OF COURSE the PS2 is gonna die, nothing to be upset about. In my opinion, it's already been dead with some lingering support. But it doesn't change a thing. It's still awesome, and there's still a HUGE library of games to explore. A lot of us have yet to put a dent in the PS2's library.

Though I do think it's awesome that the PS2 is holding out this long.

Every console should last about a decade. Weren't the last major NES titles (I'm think Kirby's Adventure and Mega Man 6, maybe a few others) released in 1993? I wonder if the rapid release dates of Nintendo and Sega hurt sales. Often that's touted with Sega, but not as much with Nintendo. And yet compared to the PS and PS2/XBOX respectively, the N64 and GameCube didn't do as hot.

In all honesty, here in the UK, there isn't a single shop anywhere near me that still sells new PS2 games. Gamestation have second hand PS2 games over with the Dreamcast, PS1, Xbox and Gamecube games in the retro section, HMV don't sell them, and GAME only have a very limited stock of second hand games. The consoles also can only be bought second hand.

I've viewed it as pretty much dead for a long time now and have been wondering why so many people have been labelling it as very much alive for a while now. In the US (And other countries) can you walk into any mainstream shop and pick up new PS2 consoles, accessories and games still? With this generation slowly coming towards its gradual end though, I'm sure the PS2 will finally be put to rest.

Now's an awesome time to get into the PS2 though. Gamestation are pretty much giving away their preowned PS2 games. Generic sports titles and wrestling games etc can be picked up for 99p. Other less desired/more common titles can be picked up for '3 for £5 - or 2.99 each', and everything else is '3 for £10 - or 4.99 each.' I mean, seriously, I picked up Shadow of the Colossus, Ico and Persona 3 FES for £10 for the lot! How awesome is that?
