While this is more in the vein of sampling music from games than short clips, like Sonic collecting rings, here are a couple other rap tracks that use samples from classic games:

Wiz Khalifa-Ms Rightfer now (Samples Green Hill Zone from Sonic The Hedgehog):

Wiz Khalifa-Never Been (Samples Schala's Theme from Chrono Trigger):

Kool G Rap-We G's (Samples FF7 Battle Music):

Meek Millz-S*** On The Whole Industry (Samples One Winged Angel) from FF7):

While none of these tracks are that good-and I say that as a longtime fan of rap as a genre-I'm quite impressed and frankly please that rap producers are beginning to sample music from video games. Many times in my youth I would listen to Uematsu or Mitsuda and think they would make incredible samples.

On a tangentially related topic, I teach an undergradauate course at the the University of Washington. While I was teaching the other day, somebody's ringtone went off and it was the "alert" sound from Metal Gear Solid. My head sprung up and for half of a second I was expecting to see someone with an exclamation mark above their head.
