Re: Wives...
Wow, I never thought I'd see a topic on here I could relate to more. Ok, heres me story.
I'm 31, and I grew up a gamer. Most of childhood was spend either playing video games, acting like a ninja, or earning money to buy more video games. When I could, I'd go to garage sales, flea markets, and thrift stores to buy up the dirt cheap gaming goodness. After a few years, my obsession began with collecting as much as I could, which working at Software ETC didnt help to curb. By the time I was a senior in highschool, I owned every console I could from the 2600 to the then new Nintendo 64. There where a few glaring holes, but that didnt stop people from entering my room and admiring (and in one case break) gems in my collection.
I married young, I wound up with that cute little dark goth chick nobody noticed and she saw my room when I was getting ready to show her my moves (wicka wicka...) She was like, "Oh, you like video games, huh?" Little did she realize that it was all part of the package deal. Years later, I had a shiny new Xbox next to my PS2 and Gamecube. She still didn't care much about gaming. At first she was dismissive and didnt participate much. Then about the time she got pregnant, she noticed I had these brand new RPG games for my systems and decided to try them out.
Over then next couple of years, she slowly integrated herself into gaming. She got herself an XBL membership and was pwning n00bs in Halo Reach and kicking the crap outta Oblivion. Appropriately enough, our daughter really likes to watch us play and enjoys playing games that appeal to her like Loco Roco on my PSP. I know have a room to house my collection (see sig) and while I go up to reminisce on my Turbo Duo, I hear the wife in the living room asking when Skyrim is coming out.
So despite initially hating them, she had no problem getting into the culture (not so much for my benefit) and offering to go to gaming conventions. Now I have my own gamer family, a couple of tvs, and endless possibilities.

Re: Wives...
I don't have a wife, plenty of time to get around to that.
However, I just wanted to add that as a lesbian, I typically don't have to worry about my partners being interested in video games. It's more weeding out the vegans, feminists, birkenstocks, man haters, etc etc etc. Gaming is the least of the concerns over in my dating pool.
Just for a different perspective.

Re: Wives...
Years ago, my wife and I lived in a fairly small apartment. So she was pretty much forced to listen to my frustrated noises while playing God of War II. I finally figured out what I was doing wrong at that point of the game and she was like, so what was your problem? "Oh, I just had to slow down time." So ever since then we have enjoyed an inside joke of whenever one or the other of us is frustrated or can't figure out something (such as where my keys are), the helpful reply is always "Have you tried slowing down time?"
Also she claims to not be into video games, and tells me to stop buying them "for her" but she will OBSESSIVELY play them if she gets the chance: Super Paper Mario, Uncharted 2 and Trauma Team most recently.

Re: Wives...
I love how much my wife enjoys watching me play games that have some fun bits or story, she loves Uncharted and is really enjoying watching Portal 2. My funny one was when she asked me "Whatever happened to that guys sick father?" about a video game. It took me a long while to figure out she meant Pier Solar, which I had only played about 15 minutes of 2 weeks before that statement. I hadn't continued as I sent my Sega CD out to be repaired. I like that she was into it even though it seemed like she was just reading a book.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

I wasn't going to post anything here because people would flip their shit like always, but since you asked...dsheinem wrote:I want to know what Inazuma thinks.
Relationships, playing games with someone you love, having sex, having kids, living together, falling in love, spending the rest of your life together, etc all have one thing in common that most people don't understand.
You can do all of these without being married. Marriage has nothing to do with any of them. Your parents and society raised you to think that you have to get married to experience these things, but that's not true. Marriage is about money and nothing more. To be more specific, it is a legal contract where the man agrees to give the woman half of everything he owns. In some rare cases where the woman has much more money than the man, the opposite may be true.
It's wonderful to find someone you love and spend time with them, but that doesn't mean you should give them half of your money. You guys need to stop being fooled into this scam.
There is no benefit for a man to get married. That's the truth. Regardless of what anyone says or does, that won't change. No matter how big of an asshole you think I am, it won't change marriage laws. No matter how much you turn a blind eye to reality, the truth will still exist. If mindlessly going through life, doing what others tell you to is how you want to live your life, you are free to do so. I'm done wasting my time trying to talk sense into close minded people.
Marriage is for fools and gold diggers. Don't shoot the messenger.
Anyone who wants to spew some illogical bullshit in the attempt of arguing against me, save your breath. I am an asshole, therefore everything I say is wrong. Marriage is actually about love, not money. I am only trying to troll everyone.
