Oh man I forgot about Killing Floor. When I stopped being able to be use custom UT2k4 skins in the mod we stopped playing it. I forgot it got released as a standalone. I might have to pick it up, a couple of my buddies and I have been playing l4d2 fairly heavily and while I love it, a change of FPS's might be useful.
So, next question, does anyone have a server to host the games on?
I know some games don't require a server, but this would likely be easier if we have one place for everyone to meet up at. The event feature in Steam has the option to include a game server IP and port so everyone knows where to meet up. The event info would only be made visible to Racketboy group members.
I think our first game event will be Unreal Tournament 1999 (aka Unreal Tournament GOTY). If you don't have this game already, it is available at gog or steam via the following links:
I'm running a quick test now to see how this event thing works. If you would like to join in a game of Unreal 1999 (GOTY), please join. The event notification should go out at 1:00pm (PDT).
OK, well the notification was sent out so that works. Now I just need to know if anyone can actually find me in game once it's running.
I left a game running in the background for an hour hoping someone might stop by, but no luck. In future events, you should be able to find something that says Racketboy Club, or something to that effect. Ideally, you should just be able to just click the IP number in the event details and join game, if it works the way I think it is supposed to. I've never done this sort of thing before though, so I may be wrong. The safe thing to do will be to look in your friends list and see who is playing the game, then strike up a chat using the steam overlay (Shift + Tab) while in game.
