irixith is angry.

I'll admit Phantom Hourglass is the only Zelda I've played in like 20 years, that I started, and did not care to finish at all. So I haven't even given Spirit Tracks a chance, but I hear it's better. Might try it someday. Minish Cap was super average though, I beat that one and... bleh. Can barely remember anything.

Personally had no problems with Twilight Princess myself, despite most. I really enjoyed it even though it didn't bring a whole lot of new stuff to the table, oh well. It felt a bit more like OoT/MM than WW did, so that was cool with me. The Dark World idea sucked though, but luckily it wasn't utilized that much after awhile.

My only real big gripe with WW personally was that it was probably by far, the easiest Zelda game to me. The dungeons were a joke usually, and just the entire game was not that hard at all. So yeah... I guess that bothered me. I was a little underwhelmed in the same way with Metroid Prime 3 (felt like they threw 90% of the energy tanks at your face!), but it was still a really fun game, just not my favorite of the trilogy.

So WW is decent in my book, but nowhere near my favorite Zelda. I don't really see it as the harbinger of doom against the franchise, though... I buy systems for Zelda games, so maybe I'm a fanboy outside of the handheld titles. :P

All these reasons are why I am loving Oracle of Seasons right now. I used to think I didn't like Zelda any more - turned out I had just passed up the ones that were still worth my playing.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Am I the only one who loves the ds Zelda games? I like them more than my other Zelda games.

The stylus controls kill it for me.

Oh man I just recently downloaded them... because I've somehow missed out on them all this time as well. I think I'm in for a treat.

They honestly feel like A Link to the Past had a couple of kids with a gameboy. After you play for a few minutes, you even stop noticing that the graphics are only 8-bit to LttP's 16 bit because the gameplay is so spot on.

I wish Nintendo still published Zelda's like these.

That's pretty much how I feel. Sadly, it seems those days are long behind us. :(

I'm probably gonna kick myself in the ass for holding out on them this long. If they're more like LA/LTTP than anything, then I'm sold.

You're not the only one. I enjoyed them a lot. I also enjoyed the other handheld Zeldas. I liked how Nintendo tried to make the games be a bit different instead of rehashing Link To The Past.

In the Phantom Hourglass, I enjoyed doing the Tower of Spirits. It was interesting how it tested your time management and stealth skills. After you repeated the Tower, you had to be aware of shortcuts that you could take advantage in order to shave off time.
I found the sailing to be relaxing.

I'm almost done with Spirit Tracks and thus far, it's been a lot of fun. The fetch quests where you have to transport people or cargo was fun. I also like the different mini-games like Whip Race, Goron Shooting Range, and Take Em All On.

The stylus controls were fine. I liked how you could draw the path for the boomerang or tap a monster to slash it.

I also like how you can take notes in the DS games and it's something that I think all of the Zelda games should have as an option. I only wish that there was a generic notepad as well as the maps you can write on.

That dungeon was what killed the game for me. At first it was exciting, like wow, this'll be a huge dungeon and I'll be opening up new sections as I come back! ... then after going back a few times having to repeat everything over, and over again, on top of the very minor shortcuts... ugh, deal breaker for me. Didn't love or hate the sailing but that dungeon was my least favorite part. Is there anything like that in Spirit Tracks?
