I'd have to say no to the main ones.
AVG: Irritating ads shown on bottom of main console.
Avast: Hogs RAM and CPU (newest one did for me at least)
Comodo: Forces you to send EXE files "to their labs" with the check box greyed out. Sometimes you can uncheck it but I think you ALWAYS should be able to.
Personal experience. I use ClamWin but it's not very good at all. It never finds anything.
As for Avira, I haven't used it in years so I have no bad opinion on it right now. It looks Comodo-ey.
Any recommendation for a free virus protection software?

I've been using this for awhile now on my Win7 desktop PC and I'm pretty pleased.irixith wrote:Microsoft Security Essentials.
When compared with AVG, you realize what a huge strain on your system resources AVG is -- not to mention, you get better protection with Security Essentials. Any computer that comes into my shop with AVG, it's one of the first things I remove to improve system performance. When they get their computers back, it's always "wow, what did you do?!".
Previously on my XP laptop, I had some nasty viruses. I'm talking stuff like Virut, which was so hardcore I had to reformat a few times until I found an excellent bootable anti-virus program that destroyed a lot of junk. It was Dr.Web LiveCD or something, really weird sketchy name but it saved me the hassle of reformatting. After that I started using Comodo and it was excellent! Never had a single problem with my XP laptop afterwards, although the program can be extremely strict, but I didn't mind since I had so much trouble with my laptop off and on previously.
