if you had to chose 2 between the xbox, gamecube and ps2?
Re: if you had to chose 2 between the xbox, gamecube and ps2?
This essentially comes down to which is better the GC or Xbox. PS2 is a given. Xbox modded with XboyAdvance beats the GameCube/GBA Player combo, IMO. Honestly, I have trouble finding a reason to use my GameCube. Now that I've played RE5 and Eternal Darkness, I'm not finding much else that's that compelling.

If mature games are what you are in to, Xbox definitely trumps the GCN for you as a player. The GCN definitely skimped on that area. I am the exact opposite - the creepy / gore filled games are a huge turn off for me. So for me, the GCN with its wacky niche titles and arcade ports and Sega/Nintendo fare is perfect.Hatta wrote:Now that I've played RE5 and Eternal Darkness, I'm not finding much else that's that compelling.
It almost pains me to say this but the last generation of gaming really was about pairing either an Xbox or a Gamecube with the PS2. I'm not a huge fan of the playstation brand but the software for the PS2 was simply too compelling to ignore the platform.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

The GC gratefully has a second life since I repurchase it, I have enjoyed most of the games, and plus the ability to play GBA/GB games on it is a plus for me. The PS2 has the biggest library of games, plus some exclusive titles, and the ability to play PS1 games. Xbox, without the modifications, all it really has are exclusives, PC ports, and superior ports of PS2/GC games, it is a overall the most powerful system of the bunch.
It is a tuffy but I think I will go for the GC/PS2.

Why leave the Dreamcast out of the vote?
Playstation 2 for the massive library and HDAdvance/HDLoader convenience.
Gamecube
A late end of life used purchase because of the Gameboy Player. Also discovering the SD Gecko card homebrew feature.

Because with the Dreamcast, there is never a choice to be made.

Honestly, it's not about the gore. Titles like Escape from Butcher Bay or the Suffering hold no interest for me either. I have no problem with colorful quirky games. I just haven't found any that grabbed me.Flake wrote:If mature games are what you are in to, Xbox definitely trumps the GCN for you as a player. The GCN definitely skimped on that area. There are a few games I still need to play on the GameCube. The Zelda games for sure, but not until I play Majora's Mask. Tales of Symphonia too, but it's behind a number of games on my RPG queue. Fire Emblem, but again, behind a bunch of sRPGs.
I played Skies of Arcadia and Ikaruga and SA2 on the DC. I played Beyond Good and Evil on the Xbox. Pikmin 2 I played, but it didn't grab me. Paper Mario is waiting until I play the first two Mario RPGs.
Pretty much the only other games I'm kind of interested in are Killer 7, and Metroid Prime. Maybe TimeSplitters 2 and Hulk Ultimate Destruction, eventually. So I guess it's not exactly short on titles, but I have lots of reasons for not playing those titles right now.

Out of those three, I picked the two consoles with the most 5 star exclusives on them (PS2 and gc) Also, why not include the dreamcast?

there's really too many good games to choose just two if you're gonna choose more than one. personally i think it'd be best to just pick one and max out your library. but that's me.

I own all the main consoles from that generation: Dreamcast, PS2, XBox, Gamecube, and GBA.aaron wrote:there's really too many good games to choose just two if you're gonna choose more than one. personally i think it'd be best to just pick one and max out your library. but that's me.
There's too many good games on each system to limit yourself to just one if you don't have to.

yeah, honestly if i just had those 5 systems with decent libraries i'd have pretty much all of the games i'd really want to play for a number of years.BurningDoom wrote:I own all the main consoles from that generation: Dreamcast, PS2, XBox, Gamecube, and GBA.aaron wrote:there's really too many good games to choose just two if you're gonna choose more than one. personally i think it'd be best to just pick one and max out your library. but that's me.

sometimes i think about doing that, just deleting everything and starting to build an impressive library of just one system. i have about 120 saturn games so i guess i should stick with that one, but i'm debating whether or not i should keep my DSi. i rarely ever play that thing.
