For whatever it might be worth, the press release states that Tom Hardy will be Bane and Anne Hathaway will be Selina Kyle. There is no mention at all of Catwoman.
And while I don't think I've ever read a comic with Bane in it, I did read the novelization of the Knightfall story years ago and it depicted Bane as much a match for Batman's intellect and cunning and a far more worthy foe than the one-note "strong guy" that he has been depicted as in Batman & Robin, Arkham Asylum and the Animated Series. If they adapt his origin close to what it was in that story, it will fit very well the in Nolan's universe.
Anne Hathaway is catwoman. Tom Hardy is Bane.

You're right. Nothing but "Selina Kyle" in reports. Which didn't occur to me at first. I and a lot of comic nerds refer to character by name because when you say Catwoman or Batman alone the inevitable question of "Which one?" arises.

How in any way is that a problem? Christian Bale is an outstanding actor.

As far as I'm concerned, directors make great movies. Of course, actors are an integral part of any good movie, but in my experience, directors matter more than who is actually cast in a movie.
As others have said, Nolan has done great so far. I trust him to get the best out of Anne Hathaway and to use her in the movie in an intelligent way. Of course, anything is possible. He certainly COULD fuck up this movie(look at how Raimi fucked up Spiderman 3), but it seems unlikely. His track record is great(just look at Inception)
I don't usually freak out when stories come out about so and so being cast as whoever. I worry more when some talented director gets taken off a project and gets replaced with a mediocre or just okay director(X-Men 3 anyone?)

So the real question now is...who plays Film Freak?

His batman voice is about the most fucking stupid thing I have ever encountered. I walked out of the Dark Knight because his throat cancer impression ruined the movie.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

That was one of my favorite Catwoman storylines ever!
Re: Anne Hathaway is catwoman. Tom Hardy is Bane.
Bane is a good choice for the film strictly off of potential...little is known about him by casual fans and the hardcore guys, like myself, love him because of the Knightfall storyline. He is a great character in Secret Six as well. He's bigger and stronger and just as intelligent as Batman, but his flaw is his dependence on Venom. I am interested in how Nolan will tackle this guy cause to pull off Bane it will take a good actor and one hell of a make-up and special effects team to make him look real.
Hopefully the love interest thing isn't played up too much...especially since this is going to wrap up Nolan Trilogy of Batman stories. I think Nolan can do this but what worries me is the fact that 3 new characters are being introduced in the last movie of a trilogy...one with a lot of back story in Catwoman who is well known by casual fans and hardcore guys alike. I just don't want the integrity of the story to falter to force in the "Hot Chick" in leather because it'll make more money. I'm gonna reserve judgement until I see more.
The growling voice was over the top but in no way ruins the flick...I would say give it another try.

I disagree with the idea of a forced love interest or shoving leather clad catwoman into the movie to make more money. I'm pretty sure after consistently making record grossing movies, WB is letting Nolan do what he wants. This movie will be huge either way, and as the end of this trilogy, they really have nothing to lose by letting him make the movie his way. From what I've heard, after the Batman and Robin disaster, they were willing to take a chance on a new way of doing things.
I don't know about Rachel Dawes being shoved into Begins by execs, but I'm pretty damn sure any screenwriter who's dealt with hollywood knows enough to put a love interest into their superhero flick before they even walk in to do a pitch.
