Spin by Robert Charles Wilson
Really great Sci-Fi book circa 2005 I just read this past Fall and loved. Lots of action, lots of hard science and a lot more really compelling interactions between characters. Hate most new Sci-Fi but this won me over as a great new book for the genre.

Into The Basement, Into The Spell & Blood Bar: A Vampire Tale all by Norm Applegate were all pretty good recent reads. The trilogy stars a unlikely hero, a Dominatrix named Kim Bennett. Its a pretty wacky story starting with a kidnapping serial killer. Then in the sequel, mind control, mass orgies and a Son Of Sam copycat killer are the focus. Pt 3 is pretty cool, and throws Vampires into the mix trying to obtain the black testament written by Jack The Ripper. They were all really fun reads and highly recommend them to people who love horror. Tried to keep the spoliers at a minimum BTW.

Re: Books Read: 2011
Well, I just finished reading a short book of poetry. B is for Bad Poetry, by Pamela August Russell, to be exact. It certainly lived up to its name. In fact it did it so well, I laughed and snickered throughout the book. Let me give you a couple of examples:
Autobiography
Looks like a pump,
feels like a sneaker.
Looks like a pump,
feels like a sneaker.
Epitaph On A Hair
Here lies, at the end of the drain
A gray lock of hair dyed red
I'll never quite know of its pain
While tearing it from my head.
Now it clings to the tub for life
Dancing a watery jig
Never again to be combed or styled
Unless it ends up in a wig.
The entire book is like this. After all, who couldn't love a collection of poetry with such classy titles as Inappropriately Touched By An Angel, So It Is Not With Me As That Damn Muse, and Metaphor Diarrhea. To add to it, most of it's crappy jilted lover stuff...though I suppose it's still better than most of the flowery garbage one finds on the Internet.

I'll have to pick up that poetry book, it sounds funny.
Dsheinem, this topic is a great idea.
My reading goes in stages, to where I won't read for months, then I'll go on a kick and knock out twenty to thirty books in a ridiculously short time.
I have a lot of titles in a pile that I really need to get to. Its high time I did that so I can participate in this.
