I realized earlier that every year since 2005, I have been playing a Valve game on December 31st to sometime New Year's Morning. I didn't plan for it to happen that way, either. So, I thought that I might as well keep the streak alive. I'll probably play some Team Fortress 2 or Left 4 Dead.

Anyone doing anything online on their consoles? Not sure if I should spend this night online. Think anyone'll be playing on New Years night?

I remember one year, me and my cousin went splitscreen on Halo 2, and just lined up all the vehicles we could gather into a pile. We both got into tanks, and right when the countdown hit one, we just started firing and made a big bang.

But now, I don't really feel the need to countdown from 10 to 1 really loudly.

Auld Lang Syne and all that jazz.

Was supposed to hang out with a friend and have some fun tonight for the first time in weeks but the bastard decided to go have drinks with someone else at the bar and screw me over in a completely nonchalant way. Are people so attuned to being assholes nowadays just out of instinct or is it just that nobody gives a damn about another human being anymore?

New Year's always sucks at my house, another bored night sitting at a computer desk with the TV on for noise.......bah, damn holidays.

Sometimes, I really hate my life.

EDIT!/Exposition: I mean every year since about '99 I used to play Super Mario 64 until about 2AM and then hit the sack. But, after a while and as I got older I realized that it was a damn lonely way to spend new years. Alone at home with nobody but mom, sis and the aunt all of which are celebrating in a way that's dumb and crazy all at the same time as I just kinda watch sucks.

It's shit like today where I was expecting some company from a friend and just a good kick in the pants to spend a bit of time out of the house for the sake of just having fun instead of work or some necessity. Instead I got a so called friend making an ass of himself and laughing it off like it was nothing.

Today was one of those days, yup, what a way to start off a year. Bored, lonely and pissed off at the world. Yay.

Yo, why not hop online and spend the night with other people who decided to spend their New Year's night playing a game?

I would if I had a single online game.

I'm broke, and don't even own a single PC game with multiplayer because my PC sucks, I own nothing worth playing via XBL and don't even get me started on my PS3 troubles.

Hell, my internet got shut down for nearly two days until this afternoon because my mom apparently had the bill past due for three months but hadn't bothered to tell anyone.

And I hate sounding like this because it makes me feel pathetic and grasping for some sort of pity, but it's always situations like this that make me feel like total crap because it reminds me of how completely fucked up my life is.

Oh c'mon, you don't gotta feel so bad. So you're spending New Years by yourself, so what? There's many people like you, myself included, who are spending New Years Eve by themselves, at a computer desk, with the TV on for noise. In my opinion, it's not so bad going into a New Year relaxed in solitude.

I spent it watching Doctor Who and House re-runs while playing Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. I also watched Friday Night Smackdown when it came on at 8. Who says New Year's Eve has to be about being out and partying. I like things quiet. If I really want some noise I'll put on a heavy metal station :)

Bingo! Boom, you hit the nail on the head. I was actually planning on just watching the 1000 ways to die marathon while playing Apollo Justice. See, being alone on New Year's Eve isn't a bad thing at all.

Yeah, but I do that a LOT.

I don't think there's been a week in the last six months when I've actually just gone out every day for fun or anything. Aside from work or the sporadic one or two days a week hanging out with someone my life sucks.

It's the fact that those moments when I'm out with someone or doing something it makes me feel alive and not just wasting away in some corner of nowhere.

That's what's bad about it to me. I get teased with having an actual life far too often which makes shit like what happened today suck worse that they already do.
