That's what I mean. Go anywhere else on the internet and you don't get anything. I mean, you give them a little bit of hell, but you're still HELPFUL.Breetai wrote:Especially when condescending guys like me get called names and STILL give advice.lwcook wrote:. I mean, you give them a little bit of hell, but you're still HELPFUL. These kids don't learn if you don't give them a bit of hell
First off, I'm not a "kid". More than likely I was playing atari 2600 and odyssey2 while you were in diapers. Second, I don't require anyone "giving me hell" for asking a simple question. I am new to the site, I asked a question, excuse me for not wanting to spend hours upon hours sifting through information to find the answer. So I asked a question... oh heaven forbid. If you are tired of seing the question, which was not directed at you personally by the way, simply ignore it.
I didn't come to this site to argue back and forth or play internet tough guy. I came for information. Had it occured to you I already cleaned it and it still didn't work? You need to get over yourselves. It's a f@@@ing video game website. Nobody is writing a book, a legal document, or a dissertation. It's a video game website. And this is precisely the reason I hate any type of online blogging or message boards, 13 year olds playing god. Now if we can stop with the b.s., I'd like to see if anyone else has had this issue.

Dude, calm down. Seriously, it's a video game website. No need to get defense. We just kid around sometimes because otherwise, what's the fun?ajsracket wrote:I mean, you give them a little bit of hell, but you're still HELPFUL. These kids don't learn if you don't give them a bit of hell

Also, you didn't state that you had already attempted to clean it, and to assume that someone has assumed that doesn't get anybody anywhere. When it comes to troubleshooting, lay out all the facts and what you've already attempted to do to fix the problem. Simple assumptions can quickly deviate you from finding a real solution.
Also, if you state everything you've tried, it makes it a more serious problem that differs from the "OMG MY CART DONT WORK!" crowd.
Seriously, we mean no harm though.
Is there any way you can try the cart in another N64. It might not be a dirty card, but dirty system pins that are the cause of the problem.

Re: Nintendo 64 super smash brother not working
If this doesnt work, I hear lightly sandpapering can work as a last resort. However, if you do this you'll probably want to open the cart up and then give it another thorough cleaning with alcohol afterwards. You might want someone else's advice on this though, I've never done it.lwcook wrote:Dude, calm down. Seriously, it's a video game website. No need to get defense. A simple game site this may be but you should always try to present yourself as an understanding, intelligent, and courteous individual no matter the medium through which you are communicating. Be it on a forum, through a phone call, or face-to-face interactions. But this is just my two-cents...ajsracket wrote:Nobody is writing a book, a legal document, or a dissertation. Back to the topic at hand though. If you have cleaned it thoroughly and are satisfied that you have done everything possible, your cartridge might be dead. You'll either have to download the game off of the Wii's Virtual Console, emulate it on PC or another suitable device, or buy a new cartridge.
He said this in the first post:lwcook wrote:Is there any way you can try the cart in another N64. It might not be a dirty card, but dirty system pins that are the cause of the problem.
... Is it his N64? I'm not claiming to be an expert but if every other game boots up I'd just think it's the cart. Although, cleaning the N64 would be a good idea.ajsracket wrote:Every other game I have for 64 boots right up

Like I said, you would assume so, but that can make you ignore the simple things. It's probably not the N64, but if you can try it in another system and it doesn't work, you can officially rule out the system. Otherwise, you can't say 100% that it's the cart.
It sounds kinda silly, but the biggest fix-it burns i've gotten are from simple assumptions like this.

I might have to try this the next time I have a problem.
Thanks.

Then please act like it.ajsracket wrote:First off, I'm not a "kid".
Then please act like it. I had a 2600 and a TI-94/a when they was relevant and quite enjoyed them. Perhaps our ages aren't so different, or maybe they are?More than likely I was playing atari 2600 and odyssey2 while you were in diapers.
Plenty of people have had this issue before you made this post. Why did you not try the search function? It is a legit question. The answer to a cart not reading, 99% of the time, it to properly clean it. To do so, it needs to be opened up. Do you have a 3.8mm (needed for N64 carts) and 4.5mm gamebit/security bit?Now if we can stop with the b.s., I'd like to see if anyone else has had this issue.
I DO apologize for coming off like a prick in earlier and even for the kid comment.
