It's actually #82 in my Netflix queue. I keep my overall queue at 100 films at all times. The Naked Gun is currently at #49.

Since we're talking about his work, I'd like to take a moment and say that if you enjoyed his films, you should really look at his short-lived television show Police Squad!. Nielsen was hilarious in his comedies, and this show brilliantly parodied the police tv show with the mixture of puns, slapstick, and other jokes that marked Nielsen's later career.

As for his earlier work, I'd forgotten he was in The Poseidon Adventure. Been a long time since I watched it. I also discovered he played the villain in The Sheepman, which is a Western I literally learned about yesterday that I'm now very interested in watching.

I'll second that Police Squad was good. I always saw the Naked Gun movies as continuations of the show much like Serenity continues Firefly. Obviously PS being a comedy there isn't a continuing story arc though.

I really enjoy his stuff. Some great classics, I personally like Airplane and the sequel in particular (more than Naked Gun).

I'm a bit sad with this information, but I accept we all got to go rest some time. 84 is a decent run I think, and he sure did enough good stuff while he was here.

Just realized he was 84 years old.

That's a pretty long time to be alive. Certainly had a fulfilling career I'd say.

I have to admit Wrongfully Accused was brutal, but Nielsen being in it made it slightly better..

I heard that it was pneumonia following complications of a staph infection. Staph infection is quite serious for people with weakened immune system. He was pretty old after all...
