I've seen games and systems like this before. They look scary so I just leave them be.

I have also seen lots of broken systems with what I call "garage hair" I call it that because
they've probably been decaying in a garage for over a decade!

- a sticky, thin grease all over the console
- some type of animal hair mixed in the grease
- rusted springs/and or stuck hinges
- once you open the lid to check inside, you cant close it
- you feel dirty just by touching it

and the fact of the matter is that the person selling it wants full price for it!

whenever I see them or games in similar condition, I shed a metaphorical tear and move on.

I will find a better deal soon enough

I picked up a back condition from lifting a ps3 and original xbox at the same time!

On a serious note, nothing that bad, never seen anyone abuse a console like that. Dirty yeah, but not greasy.

Console wise - an N64 that had been a cats favorite roost.
Other - A Street Fighter 2 cab that had mice in it. Everyone found this out right before the auction and I got it for less than a dollar. We took it outside, let the mice go in a nearby field. Pulled the boards and the CP and left it behind an abandon convenience store. Why not pull the monitor or the coinbox? Well there was a snake living in the coinbox.

Wow, Fastbilly1. I've purchased 3 pinball tables now. Two of them had been homes for mice. There was little damage, but it was still gross. I "located" 2 mummified mice while I was vacuuming one of the cabs out. The vacuum dislodged the deceased and they popped out from under a board, scaring the life out of me.
Now, if I'd found a snake in the cabinet too...I'm at a loss for what I would do. Probably scream and run, then look around to see if anybody saw me do that. (That's what I did when the mummified mice popped into view while vacuuming.)
As for home consoles, they're usually in decent shape - a layer of dust and Cheetos fingerprints. Nothing a good scrubbing won't remove.
Systems: Pong, Odyssey2, Atari 2600, NES, CDX, SNES, N64, Saturn, DC, PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, GCN, Wii, Xbox360, OUYA

EM Pinballs: Bally Dixieland, Gottlieb Flying Carpet

Yeah snakes and I are not friends. Im kinda pissed about it too, because I know there was atleast as much as I paid for the cab in the coin box - I saw guys put in a dollar preauction.

Out of curiousity, did the SF2 cab still work prior to the sale?
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

It worked fine. The sticks were alittle shoddy, but thats expected. I sold the boards and CP for $40 a couple weeks later. Now that I think about it, that was four years ago.

A buddy of mine worked at a Rhino's before they were bought out by Gamestop. One time a guy brought in an original Xbox to trade in, still in the box and everything. They took it and opened the box, and smoke poured out of it. Turns out the guy had hit the bong while packing the thing, and the smoke had been caught in the box. My friend said they never got the pot smell off of it.

My mom is a chronic dumpster diver. I normally find this painfully embarrassing, but there was one time she brought home a ColecoVision with expansion #2 (the Atari 2600 adaptor) and a huge cardboard box full of games and controllers (mostly for 2600). This was, of course, years ago when I was still living with my parents, so I can't provide any pictures, unfortunately.

The Coleco had all of the required gear to hook it up to my TV and power it on, but nothing happened on the first try. Since it already wasn't working, I had nothing to lose by opening it up, so I did. The first things I found in side were large amounts of some kind of animal hair, and about half a dozen dead cockroaches--big ones, too! I cleared all of that crap out and found that pretty much every contact was severely oxidized. There were other also parts in the expansion slot that were badly rusted. I spent the better part of a day cleaning all of that off, but that was all it needed to get it working!
