Re: SEGA Saturn -- simple yet elegant
I am partial to the black Saturns. Sometimes I wish mine was black. And when's someone gonna mod that Saturn cartridge slot so it plays Genesis games? That's what it should do.
My game-related blog.

Never had an interest in these type of add-ons, but it has 4megs of extra backup memory. I haven't gotten it to work yet ... I'm a little worried something might be wrong with the cart slot.

Apparently this man has never heard of the Gizmondo. Or N-Gage. Or Phantom. Or Virtual Boy. Or Game.com.xan_racketBOY_fan wrote:On another note, you guys should read this. Well, maybe not -- it might just upset you.
Did I just list five systems worse than the Saturn? It didn't take too long. This guy is obviously very sheltered if the Saturn is the worst system in his book.

The Navi-Saturn that's already been shown is my favorite Saturn. All of them are great looking to me. Still my most played system.

I think I am going to use Scarpers list as my road map.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Re: SEGA Saturn -- simple yet elegant
never been interested in the Saturn, but after reading the "Worst console of all time" article and then the comments, I got very curious
someone linked to a youtube channel with 155 Saturn games
well... took me one hour to watch, but there were some games there that looked really interesting
and the comments all made me want to try and find one of these consoles
I'm going to scrounge the interwebz and see if I can't find one here in Sweden
:edit
found one...
is €70 too much?
one controller and the console

Re: SEGA Saturn -- simple yet elegant
My advice is to get a Japanese model. If you can find a lot for around US$100 (which is probably in the range of €70), you are doing really well. Of course there will also be shipping costs. If you get a 4MB Pro Action Replay, you can play games from any region (maybe useful to get an EU model and then play JPN games that way, so you won't have to worry about the differences in voltage?).Lord_Santa wrote:never been interested in the Saturn, but after reading the "Worst console of all time" article and then the comments, I got very curious

A lot of the very best Saturn games are exclusive to Japan. This is especially true for shoot 'em ups, but also for a lot of other action games.
Honestly, the Saturn is my absolute favourite console overall.
The author of that article says that the Saturn is the worst of all the MAJOR consoles, not of ALL consoles. He does not include the 3DO as a major console. Why does everyone seem to miss that? He does miss a lot in his article and does seem VERY ill informed, but a lot of the people criticizing him didn't really even address what he said!

Re: SEGA Saturn -- simple yet elegant
PAL models need to be hard modded to run in 60Hz, if you cant perform mods, import a Saturn, that simple.

There ya go. That explains why you bought that Japanese Saturn a while back.emwearz wrote:PAL models need to be hard modded to run in 60Hz, if you cant perform mods, import a Saturn, that simple.
To the OP, yeah... definitely try to find a deal on a Japanese Saturn lot. It is definitely the way to go.
