It's been said that the 3DS will have graphics comparable to the PS3 and 360. So I'm thinking it'll be in the $250-$300 range since it's a handheld with 3D capabilities.

Haha it's ok. Personally I haven't done handheld gaming since the Gameboy Color. Actually, I did have a brief fling with a Neo Geo Pocket Color a bit later, but I got bored of it quickly and sold it.

The 3DS looks really impressive though and I have played a bit of my brother's DS which I like, so that's why I'm considering getting back into the handheld scene and checking it out. I just had no idea this is how much handhelds cost these days.

I say just under $200, go over that, then Nintendo has worry about bang-per-buck; especially with Wii right next by it.

Remember Nintendo has always played the lower-price-console role and have success for most of it (except for N64); I strongly disagree with Pachter's prediction for going $250 and over.

I have no doubt when 3DS comes out, the initial shipment will be SOLD OUT, that's what the hardcore gamers will do. But then in the between, what will the causal gamer buy? Going $250 and over, some might as well buy a PS3, X360, or iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch instead of waiting.

Also, I am curious if Nintendo is going to revamp their on-line stores...

I don't think you can give any value to anything he says. Really I don't think he can be considered a better analyst than any random gamer who reads gaming news online.

He'd make a better analyst than me. Shit, I get surprised whenever Blizzard releases a successful product.

So the word is at the end of the month, Nintendo will show their 3DS release plans? I wonder if the info will be shared at the Tokyo Game Show which is Sept 16th-19th?

Ninty publicly announced that all the release dates and pricing will be released on Sept 29th.

Also, GS is prepping the POS system for it already with a new department number and everything. Plus Ninty just freed up the $189 price SKU with the DSi-XL's price drop so, we're already taking bets on whether it'll be under or over $200 at work.

Edit!: Anyhow, regardless of the price me and a buddy have already made plans to camp out in from of my store the night before it comes out as no matter what we're buying the thing Day 1.

If Metal Gear is a launch title, I'm getting it no matter the cost. So my rule of thumb is, when Metal Gear comes out, I'll buy a 3DS.
