It's more of an "Anything you can do, I can do better" scenario, since both companies are good at copying each other's major features. Also, some high-end Android phones support Flash 10.1, something that will probably never happen officially on iOS, according to Steve Jobs. Also, since it is based on Linux, app developers can add onto the system freely, giving more customization options. Also, I find my Evo to be far faster than the iPhone 4, especially in web browsing. The latest update to Android [2.2], makes it possibly the fastest mobile web browser available.christoph wrote:I'm not trolling.
I often hear people exclaim that android phones are more powerful, stronger, faster better etc. I have never even used one before let alone the new cutting edge ones. I am simply curious to see what sort of stuff that they have that makes them so much better. I mean the iPhone 4 is pretty ridiculous, an android phone would have to have some mind blowing features/apps to beat it, I think.

Re: Cave - Do Don Pachi Dai Fukkatsu - coming to iphone!
I see Android vs. iPhone like Linux vs. Windows; sure, Linux can do anything, but it doesn't have the support and user base that Windows does, so in practical terms it's missing a lot.

Like I said before...
I'd consider an ipod touch for gaming. would there be any reason to consider an "EVO touch"?
MrPopo's Linux analogy seems adept: potential ≠ actual experience. Are there better looking games on Android than what is available on iPhone 4? I'd like to see screen comparisons of the same/similar games...

ZOMGWhat is really interesting is that both the titles shown today were originally 2-player co-op games, and this functionality has been preserved in the iPhone iterations via bluetooth. Since one of the biggest allures of both Altered Beast and Gunstar Heroes was teaming up with a buddy to play the game, it's nice that this will still be possible on the iPhone. Additionally, Sega is planning on updating some of their previous iPhone Genesis titles with bluetooth multiplayer, although no specific games were mentioned. Both Altered Beast and Gunstar Heroes were looking pretty good in action, and you can expect to see them released sometime this fall.

It seems fitting that Sega chose today, the 11th anniversary of the North American launch of the Dreamcast, to announce that one of that systems most popular and beloved titles ChuChu Rocket! would be coming to the iPhone and iPad.

Interesting it takes a 3GS or 4 to run a Genesis game.ujnhunter wrote:Bah! Be more specific! It's not coming for iPhone! It's coming for iPhone 3GS/4!

Chu Chu Rocket deserves more love than it gets. Come on Sega, Wii port!

Indeed. I remember when people were snubbing it when it was 99p in every store you walked into. The game is brilliant. I spent so much time playing that game. Played it quite a bit online too.fastbilly1 wrote:Chu Chu Rocket deserves more love than it gets. Come on Sega, Wii port!

The developers at Cave said the iPhone isn't especially good at 2D graphics. Their shooters really stress the hardware well.
Not sure how the Android phones hold up on the hardware, but what's nice about Android is there's new hardware out every few months as opposed to the iPhone that gets a refresh yearly.

I do notice after playing DoDonPachi for even 15 minutes on the iPhone makes it a bit warm. If Cave says it's not good at 2D then they sure are good a programming cuz it's beautiful and plays well (something I never ever though I'd say about a touch-based portable let alone a cell phone).racketboy wrote:The developers at Cave said the iPhone isn't especially good at 2D graphics. I guess it could be nice too but I see it more as a burden. I hear people complaining about their 2 year old iPhone or iPod touch that can't play new games, how bad will it be with the Android line at that pace of updating hardware?racketboy wrote:Not sure how the Android phones hold up on the hardware, but what's nice about Android is there's new hardware out every few months as opposed to the iPhone that gets a refresh yearly.
Whether its the iPhone or Android or whatever smartphone, hardware that is updated frequently (annually or sooner) is the main reason that a DS or PSP will still be my primary gaming device (at least until the3DS).
