I do tend to avoid that place... They are way too pushy and tend to ask for name, address, phone number, blood type, body hair percentage, etc even when you're just trying to buy a pack of AA batteries
I limited my going in there these days. I can almost overlook the fact that they're pushy and always ask if I wanna upgrade my cell phone or something, but what really got me not liking them is their inferior products. I've purchased plenty of things from there that the average Joe would think was OK but I found faults with. Their Cat5 cable was expensive, and the copper was really shitty (it would break easily). They stopped carrying a lot of the smaller tech stuff, so I had to order some 30AWG wire from their website. It was horrific. Solder wouldn't bond with it. The list can go on and on.

A few years back they decided to nickname themselves The Shack. I would think, "Yeah... SHIT Shack!" Who nicknames them self? "Our customers call us The Shack." Who? I've never heard anyone say that before in my life, outside of the commercials. So I've been calling them Radio Shit, and they deserve it. I can get a CR2032 from any auto chain for like $2, but they'll pretend it's some kind of specialty part and charge $10 for it. The worst part is, you don't get quality from their high priced items. They carry complete trash and tell you it's awesome.

Mah, I'll stop here because I could probably go on and on about how much I hate them. They're really only useful for me to get small tech items from, like resistors, capacitors, maybe some jacks or connectors, fuses, etc. But everything else is garbage. And they're becoming less and less useful in that respect since they keep cutting back what they stock in stores.

I actually have a Radio Shack hate thread some one.

Correct. Early games like Red didn't have a clock, so the save battery lasted longer. Ones around Gold and Silver had the clock and the battery was running double duty to save the data and run the clock. I suppose later ones might have used flash memory for the data, but still have a battery for the clock until you get to the DS which then can use the system clock.
