3DS is supposedly more powerful than the Wii?

The PSP was ~5 years after the PS2 and its like a mini PS2. It's been about five years since the 360 launched so some handheld of that caliber doesn't seem impossble.

I wonder though, if Nintendo does come out with a bad-ass handheld that dominates in sales are they going to worry about another console?

Considering how old the technology in the Gamecube/Wii, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo's new handheld has superior graphics. The Gamecube came out in 2001, after all. What's actually surprising is how well the Wii does despite being 9 years behind in terms of graphics.

I believe that ign reported that it the 3ds had close 360/ps3 graphics.

The psp does not have ps2 graphics.

The graphics on the PSP aren't even close to the PS2. It's like a PS1 with better shaders and a higher polygon count.

I think it's better than that. I'd peg it slightly below the PS2, and maybe slightly above Dreamcast. Some games on it are extremely good looking, rivaling several PS2 titles (God of War COO, Wipeout Pulse, and MGS PO & PW). However, most of the games on the system do not look nearly that good, but still decently better than PS1.

If we actually compare raw clock rates of the processors, the PSP is faster than the PS2, but runs often times on a lower clock due to battery life problems. (Although my go seems to perform better than the 3000 on most of the games I've compared with friends, no slowdown, which leads me to believe its not being underclocked to 200mhz on the go?)
