Is This Stealing or Just A Lucky Find?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I wouldn't worry much about it because its not like they lost much. If it were and expensive game in there then you'd be kinda a douche for not letting them know. You could still always go back there and tell them that the cart was in there when you opened it, they might even tell you to just keep it.

I bought an NES with TMNT and Mario/Duckhunt for $15 once. Thing about it is, the NES had Ninja Gaiden in the cart slot, and I don't think the seller knew about it.

I remember talking him down from $30 to $15, and he was like "that is a great deal, those two games that I'm including are very rare!" I think he would have shit his pants had he known Ninja Gaiden was in the thing.

Did I open the thing up and see the extra game was there? Yessir, I did.

If he told you Mario Bros / Duckhunt and TMNT are rare, he deserves that loss.

I would, unless it was a HUGE difference in price. That's not the case with most Genesis games. Then again, the most moral road here is to let the seller know about it. If the seller is also an honest person, he'd probably let you have both games.

Morally, at least from a Christian point of view, the buyer should always inform the seller of something like this.

You buy a bag of chips from a vending machine. Two fall out. Do you leave the other in?

I'd say to the other guy "hey, there were two games in here" and offer to pay for the second. I wouldn't say you're obligated to though.

I put it back by breaking the glass of the vending machine. For some reason, whoever owns the machine gets angry at me when I put the chips back.

You buy a bag of chips from a vending machine. Two fall out. That type of chips ran out in the vending machine now and the same type is nowhere near to be found. The guy behind you approaches you and say "I only like that kind of chips, I'll pay you face value for that extra bag".

I would say "No, +50% markup!"

No I wouldn't ...I would just give him the extra bag...

Not a comparable situation. One is a human error that can be corrected with honesty, the other is a machine error that cannot (realistically) be corrected. Enjoy your free bag of chips.

Before anyone starts swearing and telling me to get off my high horse *cough*BigTinz*cough*, here's a short story:

During my first year of university while living in dorms, there were a couple vending machines in the laundry room (which had a lock on the door. It could be locked from the inside(!)). The guy who filled the machines forgot to lock the one with chips and chocolate bars one day. Of course, we found out pretty quickly. It wasn't too much of a challenge to figure out how to change a few of our favourite brands from $1.00 to .10 cents. :) It wasn't discovered for about 2 months. Was it wrong? Absolutely. Was I innocent? Absolutely not. Was it fun? Hell yes.
