I think all of the suggestions in this thread are pretty good. I think if Australia ever gets decent Internet I might take up the Japanese MMO Idea. I think you should surround your self with as much Japanese media as possible; so music, movies, anime, TV shows, Japanese News, comics, Podcasts, anything! Because your brain will be taking it all in and over time you will begin to find it easier to pick up on different pronunciations of words.
Haha, that Japanese MMO idea is gold though. Best idea of the lot.
