Final Fantasy 7 Poll
Re: Final Fantasy 7 Poll
Hearing all the FF7 talk makes me want to play it! I picked it up a while back in a pawn shop but I honestly never gave it a shot.

Same here, I own it but only played an hour's worth. The only rpg I've really been into has been Grandia II and Pokemon Gold.bladerunner wrote:I own it and have played it for like 30 minutes. Not much into it, though it is one I will get around to one day. It may be a seminal title, but it hasn't aged the best. It is still great, but a lot of its praise is mainly due to nostalgia.

Ha Ha, I just posted in the rpg section that it took me ten years to get around to finally beat it with the constant restarts

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Poll
Thinking back, the only Final Fantasy game that I have ever finished was FFIX, which I consider to be one of my favorite games of all time. I played II, III, VII, and VIII all to varying lengths, and enjoyed some more than others, but IX really captured my imagination and sucked me in with its story and world. I would have finished III, but my save was deleted at the end of the game on two different occasions, which is absolutely soul crushing to a sixth grader.
The weird thing about this? I own every Final Fantasy game up to IX on various platforms. Once I finish Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, and Bioshock 2, I think I'll put some time into the Final Fantasy games.

Man I loved this game. It was BIG when I was a Freshman in HS, some people had the Cloud t-shirt but not me, too bad. I've played through this game a couple times. My favorite pairing of characters for the end is Cloud - Tifa - Red XIII. The materia and limit break systems were easy to follow and fun to level up.
But let me say that I think FFVIII was my all time favorite. I got totally involved with that game. I would stay up all night playing it leveling up to get special GFs or items for weapons and the card game while my little brother would play StarCraft on Battle.net. These were simpler times for me and I wish I could go back every now and again. VIII had an amazing story and the music was top notch. Although cheesy/corny at times it was emotionally intense and vivid.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Poll
I pre-ordered this game a long time ago hoping it would be awesome. I got my cloud shirt and everything. When I finally got ahold of it, I put in the first disc, and to my suprise, I was met with a bunch of low polygon stupid shit characters and everything else in the game ( backgrounds ) looked great. I destroyed that first tower and then told myself that game blows. Ive never understood all the hype around this title. I saw video of the girl, whats her name dying, and it didnt move me to do anything but feel glad I hadnt wasted that much time playing this thing. Maybe the folks at square had to make better rpg's based on the memory limits on a cartridge, but I think 6 is the best, and the others following. I got 8 thinking it might fix what I thought was broken in 7, but to my suprise, it was a metro-sexual card adventure. 9 kind of tried to get back to roots, but didnt pull it off all that well, and 10 was more flash and no substance. 11 wasnt even a real entry, just a mmo with ridiculous boss fights and all kinds of people with no life living a FF dream. 12 was the new same old same old, and im not very interested in 13. Hell, I almost view Crystal Chronicles as the real FF games nowadays. Maybe im just more into traditional rpg's. FF just moved too far away from that genre to satisfy me anymore. I sold that FF7 for 15 bucks about a month later, bought some weed and Lunar remake for PS1. I used the cloud tshirt as an oil rag. That to me is about all that fairy boy deserves. I know the folks in the older FF games were drawings of strange looking people, but the game couldnt show that, so I didnt have to bother with it. Many a nerd has given me a ration of shit about my loathing for 7, but I stick to my guns. I have a big collection, and there are plenty of games much better than it in my opinion.
I think this is the longest post I ever made on these forums. See what happens when a nerve is struck?
