Re: First Friend in Racketboy :)
I'm not sure that I've had enough truly personal exchanges on here in order to merit a relationship that I could truly call a friendship - there are, however, people on this site who keep me coming back. JT, LordofDuct, and The7K are all incredible posters in my book and I really miss Mozgus... and does Hashiriya1 post here anymore? -- also, Racketboy, Ack, and Fastbilly1's pieces on the main page are always very entertaining. And then you have a bunch of really nice guys who are very helpful and supportive - kind of the reason why this board has a good name for itself.
I have a sort of weird spot in this community because I'll sometimes swoop in with really ambitious (or at least verbose) threads and comments which are usually appreciated and supported by readers, but don't really invite much further discussion since I attempt to cover all angles of an issue in my posts... I construct poorly-organized essays around here more than discussions. Every once in awhile I'll say something that sparks a friendly debate such as the one time I talked about Sega having more "soul" than Nintendo, but I rephrased things and re-evaluated my thinking in a way which more accurately reflected how objective reality works while still expressing my feelings on their unique merits as a company in a rational way -- oh, and I had a wonderful discussion about what art is with a few people a few months ago. But these days I hardly post at all if I don't feel that I'm saying something at least somewhat profound or helpful (or at least concerning Hen Rygrik) - hence my low-ish post count.
Anyway, I love these forums and I'll continue to post at my usual low rate, but I've been planning on making a blog about video games as art lately as inspired by my own ramblings about the artistic merits of Ikaruga, Seaman, and soforth combined with the glory of Rev Rants - apparently most guys around here seem to enjoy my comments about this topic, but I leave the ideas complete enough that people don't have much in the way of response in such an environment as this... so I'll move my thoughts to a new environment.

Re: First Friend in Racketboy :)
Yep, same here. This site has a great community!! I think I would say either UnleadedLogic or kingdomheights777 were the first people I talked to a good amount on forums. I also send messages back and forth with several members like sevin0seven, classicgamer5, hashiriya1!! Racketboy, Ack, and Fastbilly1's articles on various classic games and systems are great reads and full of excellent information!! Keep it up!!J T wrote:I haven't met anyone here in the real world. I feel online friendly with a lot of the regulars though.

Older. Not wiser.

First people I ever got chatty with here were ott0bot and raztat, neither of whom post anymore. Mozgus was another one I'd annoy every so often via pm.
Nowadays I just lurk mostly.

I guess I consider every racketeer a friend, even the ones I don't agree with. We all share a love for retro games, so that's a good enough quality for me for an on-line friend. I really don't have any ill will towards anyone here.
As far as off-line, there are several guys here I'd like to share a chew and a brew with.
