The PS3's dual layer blu-ray can store up to 50GB's while the Xbox's DVD is around 8.5GB's. From that point of view, the potential of the PS3 is much greater than the Xbox's.

So, like all of the other posts have stated, PS3 has better graphics than the 360, but it may not be so definite until they can use more of its potential.
nice try on the dvd vs. blue ray storage, but im not so sure how much your really need for graphics. i know the extra storage can help with a megadose of gamecontent, story line, etc...but how much is really dedicated to game graphics? cant be that much.

does anyone agree with me?

Also, the PS1 was the most underpowered console at the time.
i disagree on the ps1 being the most underpowered for its time.

the 3DO was worse in terms of power vs. the ps1. some will also say atari jaguar, but i honestly believe the jaguar was in fact more powerful, just that it was super duper complicated.

I agree with you, but the fact that bluerays are going NO where and its becoming the main source. I still think the ps3 made a console to stick around for several more years...where as the xbox is still living on the dvds. So...they make a blueray add on? we all know how addons go. They make a new console that is 500$ and then have people complain liek they did about the ps3?

I dont know how I feel.....I love them all, but after owning both for so long I still feel like both have their high points, both can do equally in my opinion depending on the programmer, I just think sony edges out slightly

There's nothing stopping devs putting games on multiple discs so the storage argument is completely null.

I know I'd prefer MGS4 on 4 DVDs than have to wait for those long ass fucking installs every couple of hours of playtime. Switching a DVD takes 30 seconds max. Installing the chapters on MGS4 takes 10 minutes...
WHOA THERE.
I finished beating MGS4 just a second ago (literally for the first time) Bullshit. the installs take 3 min MAX.

There isn't a clear winner. The two consoles are pretty much PCs with different parts.

I installed Ninja Gaiden about two weeks ago and it took almost ten minutes to install. (To laugh at you, the game gives you this long wall of text to read about the history of their world or some shit. Fuck that, I'm going to watch YouTube videos!) I can't imagine how long it'd take a big game like MGS4 to install.

I had NEVER seen a game take that long

http://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry

DigitalFoundry is all you need for your mundane 360 vs PS3 visuals debate. It's pretty much the only blog dedicated to the that sort of thing. Another big advantage the Xbox has over the PS3 is its 10MB eDRAM which gives developers more leeway when it comes to multiplatform titles.

Doesn't that eDRAM require Assembly to utilize? IIRC, that's one of the reasons why the Xbox 360 port of the Orange Box sucked, Valve didn't use the eDRAM for Anti-Aliasing because of the Assembly.

Maybe that was addressed in a later SDK?

Code: Select all
