I don't even know what my issue with Homecoming was lol. A lot of my Silent Hill obsessed friends did enjoy the game a lot. I just really suck at combat, I think. I can't get anywhere in Demon's Souls either because I just don't know how to block. Should stop buying these types of games...
and didn't find it frustrating at all... at least I don't remember. Haven't played it in a few years.
I think it's funny that we are like the exact opposite on these two games. I love Killer7Ack wrote: As for games that pissed me off to the point of no longer playing...Killer 7 frustrates me immensely. I start, and after a couple of minutes, I just can't play any more. I understand it's a unique and interesting game, but I just can't get into it. I get through a room, and I just want to stop..

I beat MMX 7, it wasn't much harder than any other MMX game, but the series had certainly lost its flavor by that point. I think MMX7 was better than MMX6, but that's not saying much, as MMX 6 was a rushed, cash in, piece of excrement that only a truly hardcore fan could have gotten any enjoyment out of(speaking of myself of course:)lwcook wrote:Arrgh! MMX7...That would definitely been on my list. I was really excited because of the jump to 3D, and I played the hell out of it...for a whileAck wrote: Oh God, that reminds me, Mega Man X7, or something like that. One of those later X games, I don't know. After they stopped appearing on the Super Nintendo, I stopped paying attention to them.
Until I could hardly get through a level...much less beat a boss. The 3D engine just didn't work and made things hard as hell.
I think the last GOOD MMX was MMX 5, but the last GREAT MMX was MMX 4. That was last installment to really bring anything new to the table that mattered(a.k.a. playable light sabre wielding badass, updated graphics, some real story progression and anime cutscenes). I'll always love MMX 4 for really bringing melee combat to the forefront, not just with Zero but with a boss that actually fought like Ryu/Ken from Street Fighter. Fighting him in a straight up dual using Zero was awesome, as was the battle with the Colonel who had a light sabre of his own. That fight was a lot of fun assuming you actually dualed him rather than using the wimpy, stay on the wall strategy. The series really starting going downhill with MMX6, which is not surprisingly since it was the point at which Keiji was no longer involved with the series. Kind of like how crappy Resident Evil 5 turned out when they handed it off to Takeuchi
Ending geeky MMX fanboy rambling now...

Hey man, everybody's different I suppose. I wouldn't worry too much about it, you played it and it just didn't click. It happens, same with me and Killer 7. Besides, the combat system was a definite change after the rest of the series, so I doubt a lot of folks took to it well. As for Demon's Soul, well...I hear that game's just hard as balls.masteroftheclaw wrote:I don't even know what my issue with Homecoming was lol. I beat MMX6 too, and while it was alright it was the point the formula was starting to show it's age.Gamerforlife wrote: I beat MMX 7, it wasn't much harder than any other MMX game, but the series had certainly lost its flavor by that point. I liked the IDEA of MMX7, but after playing all the games in the X series, the jump from 2d just didn't work for me. I was used to some frustrating points in the MMX games, but I had fun and kept playing. MMX7 just felt kind of broken to me that when I got frustrated, I just said fuck that.
Re: Games that made you so angry you didn't finish them?
Super Star Wars and Super Star Wars: The empire strikes back.
Also, is it even humanly possible to think quickly enough to beat dr robotnik's mean bean machine? I can get about halfway through the game, maybe further if I really tried, but I have cheated straight to the last level and it's insane. Honestly I'm not very good at planning in games like that to achieve big combos but it seems like the speed at which it moves towards the end would make it impossible even if you could see 100 moves ahead.

Personally, if I want a 3D Mega Man game, I'll go play Mega Man Legends on my PS1.
Also, I didn't care for the Super Star Wars games much either, but I'm not really big on platformers...as in I hate them. I make an exception to the Mega Man series however, hence my playing MMX7.

I've never beaten a megaman game but I have the original collection and the megaman x collection. Personally I think the series went down the crapper when it went to 32 Bit, with the lame japanese elevator music and overly detailed levels. The feel of megaman just changed when the low res pixel art look and awesome music disappeared.lwcook wrote:I beat MMX6 too, and while it was alright it was the point the formula was starting to show it's age.Gamerforlife wrote: I beat MMX 7, it wasn't much harder than any other MMX game, but the series had certainly lost its flavor by that point. Ugh, Puyo Puyo was the same way. The shapes drop so fast that they actually can't be controlled. You could look at the "next" box to plan ahead, but if you spare the time to glance at it 30 pieces have already fallen down on your side. This is also one of the best examples of cheating AI.Jrecee wrote:Also, is it even humanly possible to think quickly enough to beat dr robotnik's mean bean machine? Well, that's debateable, I will say though that I never liked the new visual style introduced in MMX 7 and carried over into Mega Man X 8, and the character design for Zero in his own Mega Man Zero series really turned me off. I think MM X 4-6 looked good, though I would agree that there is a certain charm to the look of the S-NES games that I still appreciate even now.Jrecee wrote:I've never beaten a megaman game but I have the original collection and the megaman x collection. What they did with the visuals in Maverick Hunter on the PSP was very impressive. Updated, while still staying very close to the original MMX's look. Really wish that game had sold better. Would have loved to see the whole S-NES series remade like that game was
