@DerekG52 yeah you can remove it, its in the account settings and you either clear it out manually or there is an option for it, i think you can even log into the psn @ the playstation website and do it too

Yup, always shred the drive.
The quick format on most PS3's won't completely erase all of that info, you would need to do a full hard format which takes about an hour to four hours at worst to do.

Thats what I have done, format, go in check it afterwards, then a quick format just to put it back as "new"

What's Mr. Green doing next to the thread title? I've never seen that here before.

Huh, now that's just weird.
Stuff like mandatory HDD's/internal storage is one of the biggest gripes I have with this generation of consoles.

I guess I'm going to have to make the obvious comment:
The solution is to never sell your consoles.

I was going to say the solution was to not buy things digital. Someone can find your card, and its ruining sales for hard copies of stuff. I really dont want to lose cd's.

Hmm... wonder if I did everything right when I sold my old PS3.
I did the hard format, that took 4+ hours. Then, just to be sure, I deleted all the profiles. I hope that'll be enough.
Granted, I sold it to someone fairly trustworthy. I just don't know if they'll ever plan to sell it.

well the truth of the matter here is anytime a credit/debit card is used with any electronic device your info is sent over the internet for any one in the world to grab.
these cards are not as secure as you think they are so really you are just as safe using your card on the ps3 as you are using it at the gas pump.
as far as your account just go to sony's website and remove it. if that doesnt work report
your psn id for any one of the reasons listed and it will get banned.
it it not good to hear these stories but they do happen and these types of crimes are very hard to solve because people can make it look like it happend 1000;'s of miles away
but i hope it works out for you.
