And that makes it ok?
The point I was trying to make is that if you're going to say that drugs are eeeeeEEEEviiiil, you might as well treat cigarettes and alcohol the same way.
Personally I do look at them the same way. The difference is that the majority of society has determined that alcohol and cigarettes are ok for consumption. Making a legal thing illegal has a lot of repercussions; look at Prohibition. Conversely, because other drugs are already illegal there is a large percentage of people who will never encounter it specifically because of that illegal state, so maintaining it as illegal is easier.
Marijuana itself is pretty damn safe. It kills an average of 0 people a year, while alcohol and tobacco combined kill over 400,000 a year, and this is not including accidents while under the influence of alcohol. These dangers and problems arise as result of prohibition.
Find me a public opinion from a reputable addictionologist that states that marijuana is "pretty damn safe".
keep your laws off my body

what I do to myself is my deal. If it harms my neighbors then that should be changed for the good of the people.

I'm more upset that people are still holding HALO tournaments. That should be the argument here.

You are more than welcome.

I was really disappointed reading some of the responses on this thread, and not just for the fact that no one else brought up that HALO tournaments are lame.

All this "Fuck you if you don't agree with me" shit is childish, unnecessary, and uncalled for. I'd say a lot of the talk seems like "High School Kids arguing", but the reality is we have members here who are in high school who have the maturity of college graduates.

If you guys want to argue about weed, take it to the flag pole.

Go read "Marihuana Reconsidered" by Lester Grinspoon. He's a medical doctor and professor of psychiatry at Harvard, if that's reputable enough for you. Suffice it to say, marijuana is less addictive than caffeine and less toxic than acetaminophen. There's absolutely no reason it shouldn't be in every medicine cabinet, as well as every bar in the country.

And I stand by my original statement. Anyone who would advocate the use of violence (that's what arrest is) against people simply engaged in their god given right to pursue happiness... Well let's just say that they are a lot more dangerous than marijuana users.

I just get sick and tired of anti-pothead bigotry, that's all.

I can actually think of one reason: Super hot girls with low self esteem would just get stoned at the bar, and would cease to have sex with guys like us.

Heresy! Halo tournament's aren't lame! Don't insult lameness correlating it with Halo.

Although well, given that you are using a pad to control a FPS, yes it is lame.
