FlightGear is a free open-source flight sim package that is shaping up rather nicely.

Now who else is perturbed that they haven't found any trace of the missing Malaysian jet yet? Image

Was playing War Thunder pretty heavily a while back. Has some of the best air combat I have seen in a while and it was constantly improving with each update. It's free to play so it's well worth trying out. Worked pretty well with my Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick although I did end up using my mouse a lot for multiplayer.
