Ahh... A timeless classic! I used to play this with my big brother as a kid. The game is a lot tougher when playing with a second player though, since you'll accedentally(or just for some cheap laughs) slap the second player once in a while. This is a tough game, I hope that it's not too late to join in on this, or has anyone managed to beat this yet? Kudos to you, if you have.

Edit

Managed to get to the "driving" Section in Chasm without losing any continues on my first try, but then I lost all my lives to that :P

Wow, the minefield section of level 5 is so cheap. The mine placement is random, so you could get screwed out of a life on nothing but pure luck. Ugh.

Alright, so the minefield isn't so bad with practice. Chances are you don't get screwed and if you do there's a 1up in there.

Now the Snake level...FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

EDIT: I BEAT THE SNAKE LEVEL YEEEEEEEEEEEEAHHHHHH

EDIT EDIT: SCREW LEVEL SEVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN

Such a timeless classic, I never knew it was two player until the AVGN video, just like the video its much easier one player. I only have ever played the NES version, dont own it so I cant get in on the together-ness this time, but man I loved this game when I was younger (and have been on the lookout for a copy for the last two years but there never in the '$5-$10' range when I go to flea markets or pawn brokers.

Classic.

So is anyone but me actually trying to beat this game legit?

I've made it through level 7.

Get to level 9. I've beaten it (and the game) without cheating only once. I'm never doing it again.

I beat this game legitimately when I was a kid. It was one of my great gaming triumphs. I played for about 10 minutes just now. I'm surprised at how well I remember that damn hovercraft level. It was the bane of my existence for a long time. I still knew the patterns, and it's what, over 20 years later? I did just fine until the hovercraft go REAL fast and the timing has to be EXACT. I'll have to try again later.

The key to beating the game is to nail level 2. When you get a sword/beak from one of the crows, if you position yourself just a little off from center, you can juggle the crows dead bodies against the wall with the sword/beak. Each time you hit them the points increase and if you juggle enough times, you get an extra life. If you get enough extra lives from doing this trick, it will give you a fighting chance for the hover bikes, slippery ice, and snakes that lie ahead.

Yes! The crow juggling is essential to beating this game. I wish the game was a bit more generous with the 1-Ups though! That's the only area that you can really stock up IIRC.
