Who else thinks 09 was a good year for gaming?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Some cool games, no doubt, but nothing ground breaking.

I agree. "game of the year" is a weird term. You kind of feel like you have to give it out to one game at least you know, for the year. I kinda don't want to give it to any of them. We didn't have our 'orange box' of 09 imho.

I don't know if Mr.Fil will agree with me here, but this year missed out on a "Must Have" for me, and a lot of my friends.

Sure, there are some stand-outs. Let me rephrase, there were some great stand-outs, but no "Must Haves". Contra Rebirth? So good. Must have? Nah. Same with Batman AA, Uncharted 2, GTA 4, the list goes on.

Not that there isn't enough hype about some games, I just don't think they all delivered. i think the sales numbers (aside from shovelware) would back my argument.

I don't know, some of what I played this year was more fun than ANYTHING on The Orange Box. I think some of you are a bit jaded(and here I thought I was getting jaded)

I think Uncharted 2 is hands down game of the year, and a good argument can be made that it is the best game of this generation (so far).

That said, I haven't yet played a few of the other contenders (MW2 and L4D2 both arrive today or tomorrow, Dragon Age, Super Mario Wii, and Borderlands are all potential post-Christmas purchases - but I really don't think any of them will top Uncharted 2).

I'd say '08 was better, overall.
