I played Pokemon Fire Red up till 3 am one time... not sure how it happened... I also stayed up late playing Lunar: Silver Star Story on the PS1 because I kept getting lost and I didn't want to stop playing until I got un-lost (I got a headache soon after that and stopped anyway, and never got back to it... no clue where I am now! )
Longest I've stayed up, or longest sitting? One of the many times I never went to sleep over night during high school, I decided to beat Symphony of the Night before I had to go to school. I guess technically that's the longest I've "stayed up" playing.
I'm not much for long lengths of playing anymore though. When my friends and I were big on Halo 1 for PC, I had a bad experience. One day, I got home earlier from work then the rest of my friends. I started playing some Halo online and several hours passed. I was just signing off when my friends started playing, so I played with them for a few more hours. At the end of that stretch, my eyes were hurting and I was getting dizzy and nauseous. I felt like I was about to have a seizure or something. I guess it was the combination of sitting a foot from a screen for hours, and the fact that you can't break during online games so there wasn't even a bathroom break, just constant playing.
Well, I just beat Mass Effect within 3 days and that's doing every side quest in the game too. I think I was up till 4am for one sitting. But I remember I once played Morrowind from 8am to 9pm.
Me being the lazy shit fucker I am have done this on numerous occasion for different games.
I'd get a new game, sit down, and just beat it.
Some games were:
Sonic Adventure 2
Phantasy Star 4
Pikmin 1 and 2
Fable 1 and 2
Dead Rising
Vay (on the Sega CD)
Lunar 2 (on the Sega CD and again with the Playstation version)
some of these (especially the RPGS) could take quite some time... on into a couple days. I was a kid though, what do you expect.
Personally I think the funniest was Fable 1 though. We'd received a copy from my friend Nancy who worked at Blockbuster... she'd boot games from the store for us randomly. I wasn't to keen on the game really when we got it (not really into that medieval or d&d style RPG...). Then one morning I got off work, rather depressed (my brother had passed a way earlier that week) and just wanted to veg out. I sat down and started playing... my mates came in and out seeing me playing. They had been playing it all week so far (relatively non-stop when they'd get a chance). I then beat it.
I didn't even realize I beat it. I was just like "huh, really? Are you kidding me? Man this game is short." My mates were so fucking pissed I had beat the game so quickly with out even getting off the couch once.
I did the same exact thing with Fable 2.
My fav though was Lunar 2 on Playstation. I got it (as a huge fan of Lunar on SCD of course I got it) and played straight through. My girlfriend coming over and bugging me randomly. When I got to Zophar she was near fed up (and rather anxious) and proceeded to climb all over me kissing and trying to get me to stop playing the game.
I refused.
I just kept saying:
"Honey, I'm playing Zophar."
::she messes with me more::
"I'm playing zophar"
::going much much further::
I then grab her by the side swing her off of on top of me and yell.
"I'M PLAYING ZOPHAR!!!!"
That one makes me laugh personally every time. I don't care if you guys do or don't. I just find it great. It epitomizes to me the fact I'm not that "sex crazed" guy women like to accuse me of. I love the sex, but shit would I rather be fighting Zophar over sex any day!
there have been certain times in my life where i could say i been "veged out" on a video game and lost track of time while playing, first time was when i got super nintendo and Donkey Kong Country, i could easily spend 6 hours beating the game, and then start playing it again
so far i think the only games that have managed to sucker me into 6 + hours of play so far are

THPS (any when they first came out)

HALF-LIFE (all night long)
Counter-Strike (dont get me started i used to waste 10 + hours on this game)
Counter-Strike for Xbox (yes i had both)

Gran Turismo 3
Zelda - OOT and Twilight Princess
Super Smash Bros
Metal Gear Solid 1 and 4 (havent gotten to 2 or 3 yet)

I did this a lot when I was younger.
Most of the games were Sega CD, Dreamcast, and the sort pre 2002. The only games after that were Fable 1 and 2... and those were just freak accidents (furthermore, weren't that long of sits as those games are relatively short).
When I was younger it was not uncommon for 5-10 hour sessions. Now that I have a full time, a part time, and a hobby that is like a part time, I have less freetime and less motivation to play more than an hour or two on a console at a time. My portables do get alot of play however. Worst I have done recently was when Borderlands came out on the PC, I took a day off work so I could play it (and I needed to burn off my last sickday before I lost it that week), so I started with a two buddies around 1830pm, we stopped around 0200. On my day off me and one of those guys started at 0700 and went till 1200 - had to go to lunch for said hobby - then played from 1300ish till 0110 with a mishmash of friends. Almost beat the game the day after it came out.
I did it last year for Mario Galaxy, and Ill probably do the same when Half Life 2 Episode 3 comes out.
Other than that last year, the week between Christmas and New Years, Ack, his girlfriend, a buddy of ours, and myself rushed through Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. And when we werent playing that the friend and I were getting our characters through the final boss in FFCC Rings of Fate, trying to beat the Red Star, and playing Soul Calibur 4. Over the span of four days I would say we played a good 70 hours.
Dont let that fool you, in a typical week, I play maybe three hours of games, and that is usually late Friday night.
Longest I've stayed up playing games is 4 AM. I was trying to see if I could stay up all night (I was 13, it was summer break, and I had waaaaay to much free time). I started at 11 PM, and mostly played Splinter Cell on Xbox. I feel asleep! at 5 AM.
Longest time I've spent playing games peroid (regardless of how late I stayed up) would be about 7 hours straight on KOTOR, and the same amount of time on Civilization 3. Those are some great, hard-to-put-down games.
