My recommendations:
Advance Wars (either)
Phoenix Wright (Any)
Professor Layton (either)
Castlevania (Any)
Mario & Luigi (Either)
Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
pick up one of the above and one below for a combo platter and you have the makings of a great car ride.
Hotel Dusk
Metroid Prime Pinball
Trace Memory

Scribblenauts could last you a good amount of time, but it's almost all on the touchscreen so that might be bad for a car ride. The games I go back to the most are Super Mario 64 DS (its got a few extra levels added to the full N64 game and lots of fun minigames) and Tetris DS (There are like 8 modes of Tetris, very addictive).

Only bring Phoenix Wright if you have a phone with a web browser, so you can look up a Walkthrough now and then. There's nothing more annoying than getting stuck in that game. But it's still an awesome game.BoringSupreez wrote:I would recommend Phoenix Wright, or Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time, if the reason you don't like RPG's is because they are too hard or complicated.

Rhythm Game: Elite Beat Agents, bought it new for $12, it is easy the first play through, but it becomes difficult.
Platformer: Sonic Rush, This game just might have the best soundtrack on the DS.
Shump: Geometry Wars Galaxies, I got mine used for $10, and it is worth every penny.
RPG: Final Fantasy 4, it will take you forever to beat, I found mine in the sale section for $17, and it is very hard.
FPS: Metroid Prime has a relatively short story, so unless you have wi-fi, this would be a bad choice for a long trip. I enjoyed the Call of Duty series on DS, those games have a better replayability.
Non-game: Korg DS-10 Synthisizer, $20 You basically make music with it. You can play it forever.
Non-game: Linerider 2: Unbound, $15 You draw lines on the DS with the stylus, and some guy will slide down them. Despite such a simple concept, getting a complex and flashy track is quite time-consuming.

I whole heartily agree with Icky. Not only is Pokemon fun and addicitive but I swear it will take up so much time that it won't seem like 12 hours. There's also something to do so you'll basically stay busy. This is the game to get if you really wanna waste time.IcKy99 wrote:Dude Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum....

Yoshis Island or Super Mario 64
Both are excellent NDS titles with stacks of gameplay.

I recommend Puzzle Quest. It's the perfect game for travelling, easy to pick, lasts long, has a lot of depth and is incredibly easy to use.

Almost forgot to mention Planet Puzzle League, it's the best puzzle game I've played on the DS aside from Tetris DS.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

Re: Need a DS game to last me a 12 hour car ride
I agree with you about Super Mario 64DS (because of the minigames), but Yoshi's Island DS doesn't really hold my attention for very long. Also IIRC, the end stages suffer from level design (there are spikes everywhere).bacteria wrote:Yoshis Island or Super Mario 64
