Which dreamcast game should I get?
Re: Which dreamcast game should I get?
I made the original post because I don't own as many 2d fighters compared to 3d fighters. As with marvel vs capcom, I've read that it is a button smasher and I get pissed off at those games when I play against other people.

Marvel vs Capcom 1 isn't really a button masher. I'd like to say MvC2 isn't either, but the presence of Cable, and the fact that he's top tier, makes it hard to argue that. There is more to MvC2 than just mashing buttons, but it kinda does a poor job of punishing people for it.

MvC is definitely not a masher. It is "dial-a-combo", but that still requires correct input (which isn't trivial for some of the more complex characters like Strider).
People who rely on mashing in that game won't last very long at all.
Fair enough.
As long as the character roster is large enough (and that doesn't have to mean 50+ characters like MvC2), I don't mind the notable tiering. Being one of those guys who's not really good enough to play tournaments but still beats all his mates with one hand, low-tier characters are a nice way to handicap yourself and give your mates a chance.
