Wrong.

He rarely wrote music for the piano. I know plenty about the guy, like I said, he is my favorite composer. From what I've read about the musical interests of the average member here, I'm the only one who listens to classical music on a daily basis.

you'd be wrong about that last part. my girlfriend makes fun of me for picking up classical records frequently at goodwill. just picked up orff's carmina burana and some debussy piano concertos.

Sweet. Glad to meet another classical music fan.

What did Bach actually write for the piano? I thought mostly he wrote for the harpsichord, clavichord, and organ.

Name one written on or for the piano and a reference then I will believe you. Metal and Classical are all I listen too and Baroque is my favorite period hence Bach my favorite. The piano was developed in the early 1700's and didn't become a main stay till after Bach's death. I have at the most heard rumors that his youngest son who loved the piano made his father play one again close to his death where he said that it is much improved and might have liked it. You maybe thinking of his sons who promoted and wrote for the piano. The only known piece Bach played was an improvised fugue for Frederick the Great of prussia. This was in May 1747 and said to be the reason the piano finally got reconition as it was still relatively new.

Anybody who loves Bach needs to get this his complete works on 155 cds I got it a loved it its worth the $120 I paid. http://www.amazon.com/Bach-Complete-Wor ... 104&sr=1-2

I have several "Schrimer's Library of Piano Classics" that include Bach's piano compositions. Off the top of my head, he composed a few concerto's and preludes for the piano, one concerto in Dm for sure.

Not a single one of Schimer's Library of piano classics that I saw are peices written for the piano by Bach they are just transcibed for the piano later on. I have plenty of recordings of Bach's material on piano but they weren't written for or on the piano by Bach. Just later transcibed by others. Bach's concerto in Dm was written on the harpsichord it was later transcibed by him for two violins and then two harpsichords later but in C minor which is four handed if played on the piano two people on each piano an awesome peice by the way all who have not heard it need to it would be cool for halloween also. It makes me think Vampires dressed elegantly.

My favorite peice by him has to be prelude and fugue in c minor BMV 847 here's a clip
