Indeed, on a practical level, looks aside, the GC's screen would need to be recessed a fair bit to accomodate the controls, the GC drive unit is very thick, something like 1/5 inches or so plus the extra thickness needed to get a pop-out drive unit crafted (means a thick system indeed), and holding the system as per the pic would be really awkward to use unless the screen laid flat to the base unit, the d-pad in the current position would be unusable and the main joystick clumsy. On the positive side, it looks awesome.

The only problem is the photoshopped controls. If those were actually there then the unit couldn't close, so I don't know what you do about that.

It would close. If you look at the screen its set back from the edge. There is enough room for it to close over the buttons.

I don't know, that c-stick is jutting out there pretty good.

To me it looked like they made the screen set back so the buttons would fit. Maybe not. They could always just set it back enough so it would work if this was ever made.

One of the first pictures he sent me. It's a plastic model of the body to give me an idea of size. 5 inch screen.

Given the pic you posted, the controls will be awkward as anything to use and hold, especially given the thickness this will have to be given the thickness of the drive unit. Your fingers will not be comfortable like this, you need to have the fleshy part of your palm supporting the unit and keep your thumbs for the controls.

I seriously doubt you will be happy with the result. I am a portablizer, so I usually know what I am talking about...

I think I'll like it. I really do. I like big and bulky systems like the lynx. This will be pretty much like a wide gamecube controller.
