Playing Hooky

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

No, I'm not one for "playing sick". My situation is like Mr.Popo's, you have personal and vacation days. But, seeing as I own my own company, the only person I hurt when I take days off is myself.

60+ hours a week and 150% allocation to project work blows goats. So does working for a big bastard corporate who decides you do such a great job that they "reward" you with more work and responsibility for no extra pay, all the while ensuring you're the only one in the whole company who is actually skilled enough to do exactly what it is you do, despite constant begging to train up juniors gagging for the experience.

Bah. My advice to anyone deciding on a career in C.S. or I.T.: don't.

End rant.
I guess I wont go to class tomorrow, then.

That's the real trick. You figure out how to do just good enough of a job to be slightly better than your coworkers so you progress, but not so good that you get work hoisted on you.

My sick days go away at the end of the month. I can either take them or get paid $30 a day. So I took two last week and will take two this week - Ill probably work on the site during the offtime, or try to convince my buddy to buy Halo ODST so we can play it coop...there not the best games but coop is usually fun. If that falls through Ill grab something from the backlog and push through it. Probably a PC or Saturn title.

I'm on short term disability with a back injury.... Oddly enough, I haven't really played much since I've been off.

Kids, stay in school.

And I hate missing work due to illness, ironically.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.
