Episodic? My excitement just went to cautious optimism.
Let's just hope each episode provides enough entertainment to be worth purchasing, and not just them breaking the game into parts for more profit. They say it's because of the "story", but how much story could there possibly be in a Sonic game where he's flying solo?
Well, there goes all of my excitement. The stupid stories are what i hate MOST about sonic games, and something tells me this ones gonna be just as rediculous as adventure 1 &", rush, rush adventure, heroes, unleashed, black knight, sonic 360, secret rings and all those other god-awful multi dimensional, time travelling sci-fi bullshit plots that sonic games have decided to take on.
I want the plot to be "oh no, sonics friends have been turned into badniks (i miss badniks, they had character, unlike those generic robots they have now), go kick some butt." I cant imagine a need to split up the game for that though ¬_¬
Also keep in mind that this is Sega, so if the game comes out and doesn't do well, you'll never see the rest of the story, a la Shenmue 3.
Still, as someone who's not a Sonic fan, I'm glad to see this announcement and I hope it works out well because it's actually been rather heartbreaking watching all of you get your hopes up every time a new one is announced, only to have them dashed once the game is out.
Wait, this is actually happening? WOW. Sega got smart about Sonic, for once. We'll see how bad they mess it up. I have a feeling that anything not horrible will be regarded by most fans as "stellar" just because it's 2D.
