I limitd myself to my favorite game in a series. In no particular order:

When growing up my family and I would all play games together, and when you factor in my mothers family it grows to be about thirty of us. So most of the older crowd could beat Mario 1 and 3, but I was the only one who could beat Mario 2, and it stood for a solid 10 years. Also the main overworld theme is just so catchy.

Eventually I will take the Twin Galaxies record for the game, since I can speed run it with the best of them.

That makes sense. It just threw me off a little to see SMB.2 on a top ten list.
I have to admit that I think SMB.2 has some of the best music of any Mario titled game.

FPS: Team Fortress 2
Economic Simulation: OpenTTD
Puzzle: Portal
Rhythm game: Osu! Tatakae Ouendan 2 (I like Beatmania more but BM is a niche game)
Driving: OutRun 2006 Coast 2 Coast
Shooter: Robotron
RPG: Persona 3 FES (So far, it's the best I have played even thought it has a myriad of little flaws)
Crawler RPG: Sacred
Point'n Click: Monkey Island II
Other: Sid Meiers' Pirates! (2004)

I would comment on Plataformer and Fighting games but I lack enough experience.

BTW, Mr Pop how is EO II compared with the first one?
